      Stack injection

Guys , as a total novice when it comes to injection..I need advice on this please..Im considering an injection setup for my sbc.
Why dont you see much of this style used on small blocks? Besides the setup shown what other mods to the engine etc are needed? i know some kind of computer is needed as well?
      thanks, Gav

I am currently doing a stack injection setup for my Nova. I think they are great but not necessarily for a beginner.

IMO... you need to run sequencial injection to make it easier to tune. You need to plumb some additional lines for idle air control, map sensor and vacuum accesories.

Each vacuum setup needs a seperate line going to each stack and then to a manifold. Most plumb them hidden under the manifold. I have 24 seperate lines on mine.

You need to have a uni-syn to make sure each stack is balanced. Then you need to find some type of air filters to run on the street.

If they are tuned properly... there is nothing better imo, however, if you dont know tuning you will pull your hair out.

The above is assuming you want to run power brakes, want idle air control and are gonna run a map sensor.

It sounds like a lot but its not that hard.

You can do without the vacuum lines and tune in alpha-n.

thanx Tom , so with this setup shown it can be bought with a 'haltek' computor and harness .. but there obviously is a whole lot more that needs doing before it will run..not really a 'bolt on' kind of deal.? would my camshaft , heads ect need to be specific type?

a little tougher than a single throttle body as described above. Mostly in the vacuum line plumbing, since there isn't a common plenum like a normal intake you have to tap into every runner individually, then into a block, and then to the map sensor, pcv/power brakes, etc. Each separate, especially the map sensor. Also as mentioned the butterflies need to be balanced.

What you gain is great looks, great bottom end and mid range torque vs a single plane efi setup. Tuning is about the same other than ever IR I've run or tuned wanted to be a bit fatter a/f-wise at idle, probably to compensate for the throttle blades not being perfectly tuned.

Megasquirt can be made to run these units too, big trick is making a central IAC and use the kits some of the Megaquirt sellers have avaialble.
Last one I helped on had a 8 port straight stack on a 289 ford, they simply tapped all 8 below the throttle blades, ran 8 lines to the block and it used a 4.0l Jeep IAC and ran awesome.

Hilborn Injection has been manufacturing stack injection since the beginning -- they now are very capable with EFI stack injection and offer a couple different versions.

I believe their EFI tech "hangs out" but isn't to active on this board -- I'd recommend contacting Hilborn, they'll put you in touch with Andy Starr.
