I am happy to see that the members stop to criticize once you started a build.

When I statet that I want to build a TT540BBC in an Impala convertible from 68´I did get nothing than discourigment like

you cannot drive a 1000HP on the street

      or

A convertible is virtually a half of a car, it will not whithstand that kind of power

      and so on

      and so on

My existing 540 could be a bit to weak for a 1000+HP, so I will go with a new aluminum block and will go up to 565 as well as I think the bigger bore will be fine on a turbo engine.

Your rear tires could be a bit small for the power you will see, what do you think?

I will go with an Jake´s subframe that is narrow enough to get even the 405 Pirelli Tires in it, but do not want bigger rims that 20 or mabey 22. The 405 seems to be only availeable in 24!!!

i did get the glass lowered.i had to rework the chanel that the 2 rollers ride in and attaches to the glass.i had to weld tabs down where the glass attaches to the channel and redrill the holes. then i had to notch the bottom of the channel to clear the window motor. i am getting the conv. top on this week so i will let you know how the fit is at the top. greg

i have a 375 hp 4-speed 69 conv that i drive everywhere. there are alot of people that think conv. are not muscle cars. i guess they never had one to know what its like to drive one with the top down.thats why i picked a conv. for my first pro-touring car. i love to drive with the top down.now if i was going for auto-cross or other pro-touring events i would have picked a different car.if you are into impala conv. then thats what i would do no matter what anyone else thinks.i have a roadster shop frame and i think that was the biggest tire i could run. there are a few thing in this car that probably won't hold a 1000 hp. but i will be making 650 RWH 90% of the time.the RS frame is pretty beefy so if you go conv. do alot of frame work. greg

Yes Sir, driving in the heat of the night with the ragtop is on of the finest things you can do in life :D

As I stated, I will trust in Jake´s Rod Shop´s Full Perimeter Subrame to get the things done.

got the top finished.actually looked good to me with top up now.got all the windows adjusted and aligned with the top.not a easy task on a 69 conv.it took a few hours.got the ISIS system fully installed.it is a great unit and Jay and Mike at ISIS are great to work with.they always return calls and answer every dumb question i had for them.really a top notch business with a great product.after getting the windows adjusted we cleaned up the car and took it outside for some pics.then brought it back in and took some pics from underneath. hopefully the MiMod crew shows up next week and install their unit and then sent out for interior.any questions about certain things done to the car let me know and i will try and answer them.her are som e more pics.

Tim i told the MIMOD guys to put in everything they had. on the ISIS we put the main power cell right of the steering column. then put one of cells up in front on the firewall in the location of the original fuse block.i have to make an access panel on the inner fender but easily accessible just by turning the tire.the 2nd cell is in the trunk next to the battery.then i had to get the in-touch cell for the power windows and door openers. it is mounted next to the main cell. greg
