Looking for some tips for my situation...
I just got my mustang back from the paint shop after three months of it being there and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I got her last night and in the garage light I saw a lot of stuff I didn't like. To start off, I took it to a guy who I've seen his work at different meets and worked out a deal with him. Basically, he was to fix the bodywork, jam the car, lay out a base coat in the stock yellow, clear, and do a few detailed pieces in black for $2600. Shop was an hour away from me so I got to it a few times before the major stuff was done and didn't see much except for a few phone pics and then when I got it last night. Well, really fast I noticed, dirt in the paint (which a really good cut and buff could take care of), the jams weren't done for the doors or trunk, the bumpers don't look like they were removed as I was told to be painted, had some overspray on the paint from spraying black in the wheel wells, and you could see waves in the paint and little dimples from areas not really taken care of before paint. The hard part seemed alright which was fixing the bodywork but overall for what I talked about with him and what I was told and basically how I expected the car to turn out was not very close to what I expected. Now I talked to the guy this morning when he hit me up to see if the car got there alright and I let him know my concerns. He apologized for the problems and asked me to get the car back together (I had basically striped it for him to save some money) so that it is drivable and he would come up and pick it up and fix the issues or I would drop it off and then he would take care of it. I am willing to let him correct his work since he said he would do it and am going to start getting it ready tonight for him. Just wanted to know what your opinions were. Sorry for the long read.

Generally $2600.00 for paint alone is dirt cheap. That price included body work... very cheap price no matter how you look at it. Paint and material "costs" alone can be more then that.
He is going to fix it? My only tip is get it to him ASAP while his offer to take care of it is still fresh in his mind. I assume he has a home based type paint shop?
Good luck with it.Dave
