      Let's just say Jim Hands book is a good start - but is not necessarily gospel. Over on PY one of the things I don't like is how Jim is treated like a god who must always be correct. Just like how PY doesn't like some non-traditional stuff. Use his book and advice like any other.

      I will also echo a couple other things. For heads and valve work, SD Performance is top notch. Dave is excellent there. Matter of fact, if you're going to buy either KRE or E-heads, that's the place to get them. Superb porting, and they inspect the castings first so you know you're OK. Not always the case if you get heads directly from KRE, for example - and I'm not slamming KRE. I've talked to them quite a bit and they're good people. I took my motor to KRE to use their dyno. Ken Brewer is not THAT far away, and he both builds and sells excellent stuff. The Butlers are also good people with a well deserved good reputation.

      Another guy I just can't say enough good things about is Dave Hillard of Hillard Performance. A small one man shop who works "with" you to build what you want and need, and will always try to help you make the best decision and build - not just the one "he" likes or the one that makes him the most money. Dave was my voice of reason in this last build.
