Practice makes perfect! (so I have been told) last weekend I ran American AutoX for test and tune and this weekend I ran SCCA, I think Jane is getting faster, but my friend Mary said, "its a car not a horse you cant train it!" I think maybe I'm just training me

The camber gain has to be better than the Guldstrand mod, tall ball joint, aftermarket control arms setup I believe you were running, not to mention much more travel with the Tru-Turn set-up.

Hey Chris! Brett ended up winning the event he won by 2 one hundredths of a second! it was a fun weekend(any time I can race with friends is a good weekend) the camber gain is awesome I have a test mule frame section that I mock things up on to see and suspension binds, angle changes, and I used the Tru-Turn and the ridetech arms with the guldstrand! the caster and camber looked fantastic, the Tru-Turn with the setup I running reduced the bumpsteer to so little I couldn't measure it

heres my test mule frame section

I can look at how components all work together before I decide on what to try

Wow, the ridetech spindles with the Guldstrand mod, awesome, I assumed that would be too much camber gain, glad to hear it works well as I have trimmed the control arm stand for stock arm clearance with the Guldstrand mod so going back to the stock holes would require some re-inforcement. My current set-up is much the same as your old set-up so I'm very interested in what to expect with the Ridetech swap.

Love Mary's quote, practice makes perfect and you've been getting the practice in, I'm sure both you and Jane are much improved.

the Tru-Turn will work with great with the mod, I'm sure someone will say its to much(show me why?), but I'm running it and its proving very fast, I mocked it up on the test mule and there wasn't any binding at any component and now with weeks worth of testing and racing it has crazy amounts of turn

Sounds awesome, I can't see why it would be too much, that would be when the grip goes away, unless its too much for the street with regard to tire wear perhaps. Love the look of the Musclebar sway bar, some day when I do the ridetech upgrade I'll be running it with the G-mod.

Thanks for the info and keep up the good work.

this is such an awesome build, not only because its a grat looking and performing car but because you did it all in your driveway and didnt just sign checks over to a shop to build you a car, which makes it even better in my opinion

inner fender mod for 275 front tires on Plain Jane (1968 camaro)

ok I did the fender mod a few months back and its not the most awesome one out there but its simple and I hope it helps you guys some

heres the car at ride height

remove the inner fender bolts all the way around

just leave the front one for now

and the lower rear will need a small button head when your done or you can leave it out if you want

you need a couple of these and some strong forearms or cut it the way you want

you can see were it rubs or just measure the center of the fenderwell and measure 16" x 7" rectangle these are my favs for basic trimming

drill a hole and start trimming,,,,,

instead of an empty hole I left half of the tin in place and bent it backwards to hold the wires and hoses between it and the fenders here is how the hole looks after trimming and rolling the fender edge, see 16 inches

      heres the 7 inch measurement

then I made a simple card board filler patch template

the transferred to a thin aluminum diamond plate

bend it to fit the original template

and the I fitted it back into the opening

that's it!! when I replace the inner fender wells with fiber glass ones I will just mod those before I put them in and wont need to have the aluminum plates any more and this mod allows a ton of roll and no rub!!!

      hope this helps!!

Thanks for posting the inner fender mod Rod. Thats pretty close to what I did a few years back. What alignment specs are you running? I am contemplating doing the guldstrand mod as well as I dont drive the car enough to care about tire wear.

you will like your car and the way it drives with the guldstrand I suggest just drilling the guldstrand, I have seen too many done the hardway (cut and remount) done wrong were they just move the holes down and truly there down, back and angled it changes the whole feeling of the car

Do you think you'll have any problems with the tires throwing rocks and causing inverse dents on the exposed portion of the fender?

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I have most of the ridetech front installed, but the uppers are not on yet so I will drill the G-mod. Know anywhere to get a good template? Also, what are your alignment specs with that setup? Trying to get a good baseline.

      Thanks,
      Shane

here's the template from Guldstrand himself, I know there are free templates on the web but I would get them from the man himself (the racer and innovator) and he usually tosses in some cool guldstrand decals also, its just COOL having Dic k Guldstrands very own templates that he used to modify the very racecars that made history
