500 sounds like a killer deal. I had a 87 and they handle better then the newer C5s.

Next time you drive the C5 make sure the tires are inflated

This really is BS. There's only 1 C4 that has somewhat good handling, that's the rock hard 84 Z51. the rest are just okay. The C5 handles so much better (And yes I've driven them 90 & 91, 2001 C5, 2004 C6 and used to have an 84 Z41 before some clown rear ended me and totaled it)

Don't forget to check the usual areas (doors, quarters, etc.) for rust.

You are making me self conscious about the wheels on my car. Now I know they are dated but the ugliest?
Those saw blade wheels that came out after were really a lot more ugly.
So far everyone who has seen that style wheel on my Cormaro in person has told me they look great, but those in that picture really do look bad, they are so grungy it is sad but it's a $500 super purchase of the day.

The upper and lower control arms and the rack& pinion are worth the price of admission alone.

Are you serious? I like both these wheel styles better than the original Enkeis and I don't even think they're that ugly.

Is that car in Jasper TX?
If so I may have bought the rear end from it!
If that is the case (or even if not) I will have a 3.73 rear center section for sale soon that will bolt right in!

Do it! I'm in the middle of an LS1 T56 swapped 84 project. It should be more than capable on the track when I'm done! They swallow up 11" wide front wheels, have aluminum suspension pieces, are light, look good... What is the down side?

Yep I am as seroius as Darin about the early ones , I never liked them from the day I saw them.

It's just a matter of personal taste, they are all the kind of wheels that you either like them or hate them.

I keep condsidering a set of ZR 1 wheels like on the Red Witch but with the black centers and polished lips but even those are dated. On a Yellow car they look great and they are cheap to buy along with the right offsets for my suspension.

I also like several styles of the XXR wheels, especially the ones with the gold and black centers with the polished lip.

It is so hard to choose these days about what you like but it is easy to say what you don't!

I do like the comment about the rock hard 84 suspension as I went with the 84 front sway bar because I was told it was one reason they rode so stiff.

Now back to the greatest deal of the week and if he doesn't buy it he is either broke in the wallet or the mind. Hopefully not both!

Small world! I purchased the 3.45 D44 out of it on Corvette Forum (I don't have it yet). If you are not on CF, get on it, good place 4 parts and info! I recognized the car from the guys avatar.

Market value on the D36 seems to be ~$500 plus shipping. But, in all honesty you may want to pay a little more to get a D44 like I did, since you are going LS power-train (like I am). But then if you are planning an auto, or not to run slicks the D36 should live.

The 84 Z51 isn't the only C4 with good handling. Many people say it had the best handling stock, but it doesn't take all that much to turn a C4 into a serious auto-x car. Stock suspension is a great starting point, engine and transmission are easy to upgrade, probably same with the brakes. It seems to me things like the screwy dash/gauges and other such junk from those days would be a challenge.

Agreed. But if the Atari dash is not to your liking... rip it out and go w some Auto-meters:

Then you can also take out a shocking amount of wiring!

Seems like a good way to go if you are going LS engine anyway.
