Glovebox wiper install pics

I have had a few request for pics of my wiper install in the glovebox and finally found the best pics. So here they are and if anyone has questions just ask. The arm was shortened just a bit and was welded back on after the pawl was installed so I could get it at the right angle postition, a small rod was used in the u shaped area to link them together.

I used the DSE universal kit. It comes with a harness that is just long enough to reach to the original switch placement. It was the easiest install of any part I have bought for my car and took 3.5 hrs total to have in and working. All of the pieces minus the sockethead cap screws i used to mount it to the cowl was in the kit.


You will also want to order the headlight knob and bezel to make them match. I also got several extra bezels and made my ignition swith and lighter hole match.

It's in there, if you look in the bottom lower left pic you can see it.The only mod to the transmission setup is the end which is just swung to the passenger side. the amount of the rod that is removed was less than 1". It is just basically cut and rotated.

Both wipers work just like a stocker. You can't hear it anymore than you did the original setup.

Pics are fine, but did you run into any problems modifying the wiper arms? Is it just as simple as extending or shortening them?

Thw wiper arms are all stock along with the whole tranmission setup. The only thing that was altered was the end at where the pawl/wiper motor drive arm is. I just cut the transmission arm where it would still be able to be welded on and then I bolted it to the pawl that came with the DSE motor and then marked the arm at the end and cut off the needed amount and welded it back on using a small round piece of stock to give it something to weld to easily.

There is not a lot involved to do it and the pics show it all really well for the most part. The design to put it on the drivers side cowl area under the fender requires a lot more work for the actuating arm and if you ever have to remove and replace the motor you have a lot more work ahead of you. The length of the arm and the articulation at the end is also a harder to control it from flopping around. I worked it through my brain for awhile and mocked it up for a bit before I just bit the space out of the glove box area and lived with it.
Now when I open my glove box it resembles a service door to my electrical system both for the car wiring but for the EFI too and then there is the wiper motor right there in the open. I fought with it in my mind what others would think and then just didn't care and did it.
