      66 fastback

Here is a little info on my car, enjoy! Let me know what you think.

Bought my 66 fastback when I was 15, it was my first car believe it or not. Nightmist blue 66 fastback 2+2. The original 289 was long gone when I got it. It had a 1970 302 2bbl in it when I got it and it didn’t last that long afterwards because the oil pump failed.

      Then

      Now
This is the most current picture I have of the engine bay.

87 GT 5.0 roller block with complete rebuild
      Trick Flow stage one cam
New dual timing chain and gear
      Cran's 1:6 Roller Rockers
      Edelbrock Air-Gap intake
      Edelbrock 500cc 4 barrel carb
      Tri-Y headers
      Rebuild 93 GT-40 heads
      8mm wires
      Flowmaster exhaust 40 series
      Aluminum Cobra air cleaner
      3" tall Cobra valve covers
      3 core radiator
      Moroso front sump oil pan

      power brakes
      dual master cylinder
      CSRP disc brake kit
      all new front suspension

Replaced the edelbrock with a Holley 650 double pumper. 10-12mpg!

      added Raydot mirrors recently too

I recently finished up the Shelby drop, installed high performance coil springs and the Shelby quick steer kit. With the new springs and the drop itself, the car handles so much better. Really happy with the stance. Before I left to go back to college, the front seems to have settled at a good 2" drop.

      Before

      After

      Sorry, dirty car.

Need your input. I'm want to put a 9" rear in the car and while I do that I want to redo the rear suspension. I'm leaning towards installing a Heidts 4 link. I already have the 3rd member with a 3.5 ratio, so besides that I think I might get everything from them. Thoughts on this setup?

Great pics, If you are looking for rear suspensions I would talk to Frank at Prodigy he is on this site and has alot of options. He tells me he does Ford stuff too, so now we will see. Honestly he helps alot5 of people on this site and is a good guy.

if you're going to put big meaty tires, then i've heard the 3-link rear suspension is best for corner carving.

i have the Cobra Auto stage 3 setup out back with torsion bars. i didn't have the time to do a mini-tub.

I am working on a 66 fastback now just installed heidts 4 link was very easy to do the parts were first class. cant wait to drive it. still have to finish driveline (turbo charged 302 with a 5 speed) should be a handful.

very cool set up. I would look to TCP and their 4-link. It seems better than heidts.

      You should look into GMR.
      http://thegmr.com/PTDrearends.html

We are a TCP dealer and can weld on all the mounts for their kit to our housing. so.... TCP kit with GMR housing/ hub setup.

Very cool car. My first car was '66 coupe.

BTW, the pictured carb is not a double pumper, it is a vacuum secondary.

actually checkout www.ridetech.com and think of this,,,,just get the suspension, delete the air parts if you dont want or cant aford it and now Ridetech sells coil overs too! and they have great shocks ,so dont over look this company.

Definitely would go with TCP over Heidts. I have always felt that Heidts is more geared towards the form over function crowd.

When you get a 9" make sure you get one for an early Mustang because the 67 and up are wider.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe they were developed as a group venture so to speak. The ride tech 4 link is essentially a G-bar/link with air ride...
