Which is better Currie or Moser?

I see that Currie sells a 12 bolt and I wanted to see which you guys think is better. I'm leaning towards the Moser 12 bolt. Has Moser straighten out their quality issues that I have read about?

What quality issues? We sold 56 Moser 12 bolts last year, not a problem with one of them.

I cannot speak on Currie's quality, but since nothing is wrong with the Moser, I do not think they can be better.

I know you can't believe everything you read on the internet. I'm trying decipher what is true and what is not. When I read post like this one I start to question what is true and what is BS. I'm not trying to pick on Moser, especially since I've read alots of good post about them. But I've also read some post about quality issues. Just trying to figure if quality issues have been fixed or maybe there was never any quality issues in the first place.

Frank does make a good point that he sold 56 units last year with no issues. I've talked to Frank several times and I feel that he is a stand up guy and is telling the truth.

Some see a statement like "we sold 56 last year" as bragging or salesmenship. I call it a track record of performance. I can not talk down Currie, I have no experiance. So all I can reference is my personal experiance with products I have used.

I have a Currie 9 in my El Camino and it has over 20,000 miles on it with no issues. It was one of the rare "install it and forget it" items I've bought for my car! I'm completely happy and satisfied with it.

I like the Strange rear end. I have a lot of friends that are running their S-60. Plus they are local so I will save shipping charges. Ask CMRAMAN if he likes his Strange rear.

Well guys, I've done alot of read on this subject this weekend and I really haven't found anything that has pointed to one 12 bolt rear end manufacture (Moser, Currie, Strange) being better than the other. I found that each one has had minor problems occasionally, but this is true for every product out there. For each of the manufactures, I found more positive information than negative. I really think it comes down to personal preference on which brand you like...in my opinion they all make a good product. Some people like chevys others like fords...this is what makes the world go round.

Both are great.. for some reason though when I think "9-inch" I think Currie and when I think "12-bolt" I think Moser.

Both of them, along with Strang turn out some outstanding products.

So it's personal preference and price.

i have an aluminum Moser with a 4.86 spool in my 65 mustang drag car. i love it, very good quality and great to deal with. Summit was able to get me a better price than ordering direct from Moser.

I have a nitpicky issue with the Moser rears that prolly everyone has but I know from installing several moser 12-bolts at my shop over the last year that they lack the welded tabs to secure the rear brakelines across the housing. I design/build my own plumbing so it wasn't a huge deal but in one instance I would have liked to route the rear steel lines as the factory did. Other than that, thumbs up for Moser.

I don't think Moser is the only one that does not weld the tabs. Matter of fact, I didn't think either Strange or Currie put them on.

Putting tabs on is easy. All you need to do is cut some sheet metal strips, spot weld them on with a MIG and bend them over.

Agreed. When I think 9" or 12 bolt... I think Mark Williams. But then again... what do I know ?

Yeah.. welding tabs are easy-but when the rears arrive already powdercoated, it's not something I want to do. How hard is it to include the tabs to begin with? Everybody needs some place to secure rear lines, right? Oh well...I came up with cool alternatives but it's nit-picky like I said.

Moser has some plastic straps that hold the lines. Not as good as welded tabs, but they will work better than zip ties.

Frank - did you get my order last week for #57?

I don't have seat-time with either Currie or Moser at this time. I can say both are very reputable shops from what I know so I would guess they would stand behind their products and correct any reasonable, manufacturer-related "issue". All I know is two of my '69's are mini-tubbed and have G-Bar's installed. For the very reason described above, I like that I can order from Frank and have the custom narrowed rear delivered already setup with the good stuff and with the G-Bar tabs jig-welded on, ready for powdercoating and assembly! My last order was a 9" for the BBC, this one is a 12bolt to go behind the LS7. No good reason other than I can try them both out and the price from Frank delivered is a no-brainer for me.
