Project Nightmare- 1982 Monte Carlo SS (clone) build
I have been on Pro-touring for awhile, and thought that it was a good time to finally post a project thread for my MCSS.
A little about myself, I am 20 years old (will be 21 on Feb. 9th). I work full time as a night shift dispatcher/911 operator for my local Police Department in Lampasas, TX, and I go to school full time at Central Texas College in Killeen, TX. I have been into cars since I was a child and I have always been into muscle cars that are more than just straight-liners.
About the project, the car is a 1982 Monte Carlo SS (clone). I bought the car when I was 14 after mowing lawns for a whole summer to pay the $500 for it. Someone had already turned it into an SS when I bought it, so it was just left like that. I have been building it and refining it since then.
Two years and a half years ago after graduating High School I took it off the road and began tearing it down in our shop to give it the pro-touring treatment, its a bit of a budget build but I think you guys will enjoy it.

Where it all began 6 years ago.

Last car show before I took the car off the road (ignore the model...lol)

Myself with the 1st place plague.

This kinda gives you an idea of what the car looked like when I pulled it off the road, this was the day before she went in for tear down.

Parts....

This give you an idea of how the whole bottom of the car looked. I would just like you northern guys to notice ..........NO RUST, not even a single pin hole... LOL

The rear suspension, that goofy exhaust is gone.

Yes, I know the tank is all kinds of scratched up, that has been fixed.

The interior going back in.

How the front looked upon tear down. I must say that I was horrified at some the things that I saw when tearing it apart, five years of hard driving really does take its toll on factory suspension/steering parts.

The before:

The after...kinda.

How she sits today, excuse my poor picture taking skills.

So, tell me what you guys think? Any advice?
Andy.
