'67 Camaro front tire hitting outer fender

Front tires are 225/55-16" on 8" wide wheels with 4" backspace. Right front tire hits outer fender well on bumpy roads. Front tread width is 61" with one piece hub/rotor '69 disc brakes. Wheels, tires & pads all new and work well. Front end alignment set to one degree negative camber. Can I convert to two piece hub/rotor & retain existing caliper & pads while reducing front tread width? Thanks for any suggestions.

Unfortunately 4 inches of backspacing isn't a good combo with 8 inch wheels. Most run anywhere from 4.5 to 5 inch BS (4 3/4 and 4 7/8 are most common). If you add a spacer you will be subtracting backspacing (making it worse), pushing wheel further out. You might want to consider another wheel. Which part of the fender is Making contact with the wheel? You could try using button head inner fender bolts (if that's what the tire is rubbing). Even by changing the hub setup to a drum style (using C4 or C5 front brakes), you would only reduce your track width by maybe a .5 inch total.

Tire rubbing '67 Camaro right front

      Chris:

Thanks for your response to my problem. Front tire diameter is 25". The tire is hitting the upper/outer fender well. I have replaced hex head bolts with low profile round heads.

You can try adding some camber also, leaning the top of the tire in at the top. but at the end of the day, as Chris mentioned, 4.75 BS would help a ton
