      66 Pro-Touring Chevelle

      I wanted my project to be a little different,so I'm incorperating some of my stockcar parts with your typical G-machine parts.Started with a Howe latemodel front clip,5" coilsprings with adj jacking bolts,tubular control arms,tubular spindles,wide-five hubs,A M 3 link rear suspension with a watts linkage,A M Max-G style chassis,9 in rear,beadlock rims,15x12 and 15x10,looking hard for 18 or 19in widefives,nothing radical motor/trans,383 with a 4 or 5 speed,maybe turbos(their growing on me)

This is the same type project I've been wanting to do for some time now. The front clip looks like the same port city clip i have on my late model, but with different upper mounts. I'll be watching this build. Good luck and keep the pictures coming.

      Hey Rich,

Welcome aboard! Great looking project!! I really like the Chevelles... and very fond of asphalt circle track racers... One of my good buddies has spent his whole life racing asphalt circle tracks...

The largest diameter wheel I've found for a wide-5 is a 16" rim... larger diameters may be out there but I haven't found any... I don't think there are any racing classes that would allow a rim diameter larger than 16" that would use the wide-5 setup...

Here's the company I've been looking at: www.realwheel.net. If I plan on road racing with a tire wider than the traditional 335/345 series range I would swap out my front 14" rotors to 13" rotors and run this company's wheels with either Hoosier or Goodyear rubber... Their bias-ply racing slicks or their radial slicks come about 2" wider than the traditional 335/345 series tires...

      GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PROJECT!!

I had forgot about the Bogarts... The good thing about the Real Wheels are they are relatively affordable... The "Pro 6" 16"x14" wheels I was looking at for my car were a little more reasonable at $400.00 each...

Yah Ray ,If I could find 18 or 19's Id spend big $'s,but if I have to settle $250 is more like it. I asked my wif-eeerrrr Santa for these 15x12 chrome w/ black anodized,by far the nicest Ive seen http://www.outlawraceparts.com/. But Im gonna consider those 16's,Rich

What are you doing on the front spindles to accept the wide 5 hub?

Your Chevelle looks like it's going to be a pretty cool ride when you're done. How's the progress?

Awesome project! Would LOVE to do something like this with my '67 Chevelle. It currently has an HTH truckarm rear suspension with the rear frame rails narrowed 2" per side and HTH tubular arms up front. Sadly, that frame is stored against the wall, on the back burner! How sick would that be to see your chevelle rolling on the street with the wide 5 beadlocks! A good friend of mine races dirt late models and I just love hangin out at his shop checking out the car. Would love to have one of those quick change rears in my car also! I'm definitely subscribing to this thread! Great stuff!

Very cool car...I can relate!....Im confused with the beadlocks though.....are you going for a dirt car look???.....dirt cars run them because of the extremely low air pressures they run the rim can slip inside the tire.....Sprint Cup cars have 850 plus hp these days and dont run them.....and no beadlock rim is anywhere near street legal....dont mean to sound like a kill joy but just sayin'
