      Spal controller question

I have an older SPAL FAN-PWM controller. It's probably the original version based dates of several posts. I have heard that was an issue with the first two versions.
So my questuions are this. What were the issues with the first two versions of the SPAL fan controller. The fan set up I plan to use is a dual fan set up from a 4th gen Trans Am. If my memory is correct thes fans only draw about 20 - 25 amps. Will this controller be ok for these fans?? I do have the extra harness required for dual fan operation as well as the SPAL temp sensor. I just don't want to install anything electrical that may be suspect, can you say fire?, in my car.

If this controller isn't a good one to use I like the Dakota Digital set up. Looks simple and tuneable.
