      Nuther New Guy

Military guy here, originally from New Jersey but in Colorado right now. I'm getting closer to a finished product so I thought I would introduce myself so when I start asking questions I won't get yelled at! 67 Camaro, mild PT car, just don't have the money to get all I want. What did you say sponsers?!?!?!?! Lol! Big block 4 sp car(now, originally a 6cyl), LSX and TKO in the future. Tubular control arms, mini tubbed, 18x8 and 18x11 Forgelines, Wilwood brakes, dynalites and 12" rotors, yadda yadda. I'm really concentrating on a staight body and I'll work out the other go fast and turn stuff later. If you are extremely bored www.cilurso.com has some build pics. Click on the 67 Camaro build and please ignore the rest of the family photos Nice to be here, especially since many of you will not be offended that I took a 6cly body and "messed it all up" with cool modern parts.

Welcome to the site RJ! That is one sweet build ya got going on! Definently going to be completely rust free! How long have you been working on it? What else are you planning on doing with the car, as far as rear suspension? Staying with stock interior? Figure out a paint theme yet or color?

      Again, welcome! And awesome car!

The initial idea was to put in a 4 link, but that's not going to happen right now. Just too much going on. So, we cut up a 70 Camaro rear and shortened it to 54 3/4 to work with the mini-tubs. DSE drop springs, billet QA1 shocks, del a lum bushings.

I actually paid more for that car than I should have because it was so clean, plus I just fell in love with it. Sometimes I just find a car and its got something going on with it I can't really explain. After consulting many 1st gen experts, there really is no such thing as a clean Camaro. There was a small issue in the rear quarters and the body guy suggested a fell tear down to see what was inside. It wasn't bad, but the guy I use builds stuff that will last forever, well almost. So they get up inside and epoxy it and all that junk. I've been working on it less than a year.

The last car I built was a marvel of modern tech. It was a 05 Vette and bells and whistles and a nice girl that talked to me and told me when to turn. It made 763rwhp and could do 27mpg on the highway if I stayed out of it. I really missed old stuff and on this car I retained an almost stock interior with the factory console and gauges, which yes I know stink, but I wanted to feel like I was in 1967. I know that's not the point of this site, but I think I got a nice compromise going on.

I'm painting the car 1987 Porsche Venetian Blue. When I was stationed in Europe I had one and I hated the color. Its like slate gray blue, pretty blah. But after a few weeks it grew on me. It has a nice deep metal flake. I was going to do a single wide black stripe with a bright blue pinstripe kinda like Larry's Motiv8tor but I leaning towards ghost Z28 stripes. I've got a set of new stock interior panels but the plan is to gradually replce them with black leather with a gray blue stitching. I've got a guy who worked with me on the Vettes that does insane work and he is going to cover my factory steering wheel in that scheme. I'll have one for the track, but my car came with one of those N35 or whatever wheels, the deep ones with the horn buttons on each spoke. I havent seen too many of those so I thought I would keep it. I restored the whole thing, but those wheels have really tight groves on each side that are impossible to get back right. So, I'll wrap it and I think it will look cool.

      Thanks for the welcome!

Oh I'm in Fountain, just south of Colorado Springs. Garage is always open!!
