caliper bore size ?
i have a question for the brake experts out there. i have the chance to buy a set of brembo brakes used. really cheap from a friend. they were on the front of his pick-up. they are 13.5" rotors. with 4 piston calipers .1 5/16 and 1.5 bores. my question is i want to use them on the back of my car. with 6-piston 14" baers up front. would the caliper size be ok on the rear or will it be too much. i'm running 335's out back if that matters. brembo said they could sell me new hats to make them work ,but i think i'll just remachine the bolt pattern and use them.

A very basic rule of thumb from sources that I spoke with in determining how to size my own brakes stated that the rear total effective piston area should be roughly one-half of that of the front. You will still likely need to bias things with a balance bar, or proportioning valve, but this is a good place to start planning. If the rear piston area is a bit bigger than half of the front, there is little you can do to trim down the rear response in order to create a front-rear balance. Most cars are over-braked in the rear.
There is a lot more to it than that, but this should be a first order litmus test.
