spacers and longer wheel studs

hey guys, i went down to the body shop today to check on the progress of the car and its lookin sweet! all primed up and almost ready for paint, but i went there to see if a set of bmw m3 rims would fit on it and they did, but the only problem is that they hit the leaf springs just a little bit and they have plenty of room to come out towards the fender. what size spacer should i use and what length stud should i use too? i dont know the back spacing of them either but they look great. any help is appreciated. thanks-dom

You should get the old tape measure out and see how much room you have between the tire and the inner fender well and take about a 1/2" off that measurement and have a wheel spacer made. Personally I think wheels look best when they are pushed all the way out to the inner fender well on the ragged edge of rubbing, so they sit flush with the rest of the body. I got wheel spacers/adapters from this place www.wheeladapter.com They work great, helped me space out my z06 wheels on my first gen. As far as the wheel studs, with a spacer like this you dont need longer ones because you bolt the adapter to your existing studs and the adapter has its own set of studs. If anything you may have to trim your studs. Anyways, hope this helps, Good Luck!

Forgot to mention, If you only need it to space out about a 1/4" they make slip on spacers that work just fine without having to change any studs or anything. But anything over a 1/4" needs a proper adapter.

thanks, they only need to come out about 1/4 inch so im going to buy the slip on ones for now and try them out thnks again-dom

Be real careful with the slip on spacers, most are cast alum and break if your at all hard on the car!!!! At $35-$40ea.. you can have billet alum hub centric ones made that won't break and will keep your wheel straight!

thanks guys the car is mostly going to be for cruising and the occasional race here and there, but im gunna try these first to see how they hold up.
