Rusforth Wildsides arrived and test fit

Hello all,

Just wanted to share some photo's of the new Rushforths I got for my Mustang. I think I posted some pics this last summer of the car... since then have decided to completely dismantle and re-do into a tru one-off pro touring machine. Step 1, wheels and tires.

Let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions, I'm looking for ideas.

I will be starting a new project under the project update section, so watch for updates! It will be a slow project, but should be worth it in the end.

looks great! have you done anything to the rear end in terms of shortening? Also what are the specs (backspace, width, etc...) for wheels and tires. Is it tubbed? I have a 68 coupe so definately interested in your build

Thanks for the comments guys... needless to say I'm pretty happy with the wheels!

Specs are

18x8 front with 5.25" backspacing
245/40/18 BF Goodrich G Force KDW NT's fit perfectly square on the wheel

18x10 rear with 4.75" backspacing - equals approx 4.5" dish
295/35/18 BF Goodrich G Force KDW NT also fit nice and square on the wheel

The wheels were ordered with the theory of narrowing the rear end approx 2.5" on either side. Over the next few days (hopefully) this will be verified and confirmed, and I will order my complete strange rear end.

As far as the mini tub goes, I got some great advice from none other than the Ring Brothers themselves (met both Jim and Mike at this year's Sema, and what a couple of great car guys!)
For a fastback you dont' want to go any further than the inner quarter mount, this allows you to retain the factory interior panel. I think for a coupe, there is even more room to play with? I will be posting pics as I go, so you can see how things shape out and how it gets done. One thing I found, is there aren't many guys out there mini tubbing mustangs, compared the amount mini tubbing camaro's. Also, with the mustang I think the biggest you would go for rear tire would be a 315... there just isn't the amount of room to go with a 335 or 345; unless you want to make your own rear frame rails etc. Also, the 335 or 345 I think would look too big on the first gen stangs...

The color is a factory 67 mustang color - dark moss green: a hair lighter than the bullit car(68 color - highland green) I'm actually going to be changing it to a much deeper and darker green - the same color as the ring brothers reactor..

Nice Mustang, I like the color.... and the wheels look perfect.

You mentioned mini tubbing of Mustangs and I thought of a thread you may like. I have a 63 Ford Falcon Sprint so I'm over at The Ford Falcon News site a lot - there is a guy chuckbizkits who has done a few Falcons/Comet minitubs and they look great. As you may know the early Falcon is very similar to your early Mustang underframes so you may get some ideas if you take a look at this:

hahah Thanks... ya it was pretty rough... Was totally a 70's car, had the sheepskin seat covers, was painted purple at one time and had the cragar wheels...
