      Awesome as usual!!
But your pictures make me think...I really want to remove my drip rails, then if I do..I think I'd have to ditch the halo vinyl top that my car came with...but then again, the halo top trim could be a secondary drip rail....

I just love this build. Maybe because I got a Comet. This is inspiration for me. Life keeps pushing my project back.

Ive always thought a Maverick/Comet could be made into a Rocket of a road racer.

I did. Made from flat steel. I probably have 25 hours into it. Mounts just as the factory cluster did.

I read through your thread. This is gonna be a killer ride in the end. I realized it was a Sprint from the stock paint & if Sprints ever become valued above 50K it wouldn't take much to bring it back to stock. It's not like you used it for parts & cut it up for scrap. I'm looking forward to seeing this completed.
I have too many cars.... This one is my '07 Stang "ORANGE CRUSH"
I'm also restoring an '80 Pinto that will become my sons 1st car & a '76 Pinto wagon
My '73 Pinto & '71 Demon are future projects after I tackle these 3....

I'll be tickled if any Maverick hits 50k, that means mine will be close behind!

I hear ya'..... I think the Pinto Sprints are neat but I'm not enamored with the baby blue & white paint so mine would probably be painted a deep metallic blue & have some other mods as well. I'm not a purist unless it's an extremely rare & valuable car like a Hemi Cuda' or GT500 & even then minor mods don't make it less of a car. I say build it to your tastes & worry about the concourse resto if it hits a million bucks & you wanna cash in.

The more PT Mavericks I see, the more I like them. Very nice project, keep up the good work. I'm subscribed!

Couldn't agree more. I used to have a 68 GTO that I bought from the original owner. It was numbers matching and I wanted to rod it but couldn't bring myself to so I sold it to a guy that pushed it into a field and left it. Thing I like about the Mav is even though it's a Grabber no one looks twice and wonders why you modded it (not that it's been modded yet).

Great work. I like the shaved drip rail look. I kind of wish mine wasnt runnin already so I could do some of these things. Im storing them up for in the future when I tear it all back down again.

Thank you all for the very positive feedback. It definitely helps with the motivation! There are some Maverick purists that think I am crazy for doing all this to a Sprint. I know they only made 15k of them and all, but I don't ever see this car going the way of a Shelby, COPO, Yenko etc. Yes I think it will gain in value as people realize they are cool cars. But I don't think the Sprint will ever become one of THOSE cars. Besides, I really don't like that factory color scheme.

      I hope I don't disappoint you all. I am pretty sure I won't though.......

My '80 Pinto is 1 of only 2 known with it's option package & the other was used for parts & scrapped. That's not stopping me from making a ton of changes to it. Even fully restored it's not worth more than 10K so screw it. I was gonna start a build thread on it but compared to the major mods I'm seeing on this site my build now looks closer to a restoration. I decided to post my Stang since the only stock parts left are the floorpans, rear axle & front spindles & it fits the Pro Touring theme I wanted but I'm expecting flak since I didn't use vintage iron to build it.

I here ya as far as the comparison to some of the other builds on here. I am not trying to compete, or even come close to some of those cars. I am just trying to build my car as cool as I can and for what $$ I have to spend. If I had much deeper pockets, I would still do this car, but in a very different way.

Good luck with your. And if I were you, I wouldn't think twice about a build thread for the Pinto.

Me too Bryce, me too. I have been ordering parts like a mad man lately as well as spending some serious time in the garage. I now have all other projects on hold. I am now getting some quality time with this car.

Today I read through your thread for the first time. I am a Mustang man, but can sure appreciate your creative talent in making this Maverick unique and mean. That rendering sure looks great, and I dont know anyone that wouldnt be proud to own the car. Great work so far, I cant wait to see more!
