      Eleanor?

Thoughts? Numbers matching? Please tell me this wasn't a factory Shelby GT 500.

That is a great clone of Eleanor. I read the auction, and he doesn't mention it was a numbers matching 'GT500', just numbers matching. We all know that could be a 289/3spd car that was #'s matching, so no big loss there. Great photos, and well executed. I have only 2 gripes:
      1. He only drove it 8 miles, and is selling it.
      2. There is no way that car has ABS as he claims in the auction.

I do not know what it really was, but it sure looks good now.

A quote from him: "When I first saw the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" I knew I had to have this car. Eleanor has taken me 2 years to build and it was a long and rewarding process in which money was truly no object"

Knew he HAD TO HAVE IT.. then sold it 8 miles after HAVING it.. weird..

Oh.. and why is the swept area on the front rotor so SMALL? Look like standard Baer PBR's and they have only rubbed the zinc off an inch or so of the rotor.. odd..

Maybe I'm wrong, or just don't know enough about it, but I thought all "Eleanor" GT500E's were badged and marked just as such. Anywhere I look I only see GT500. It wouldn't be an issue if the Shelby signature wasn't on the dash, then I'd figure it just for a really detailed clone, but he also Advertises it as a GT500E, so that brings me back to proper licensing, etc., etc. Hmmmm, weird indeed.

Anyone can build an Eleanor...the body parts are all over Ebay...and there is nothing at all original Shelby about them...hard to beleive that these cars brings more money than original Shelby's do...

Unique Performance, www.uniqueperformance.com has the only "real" Eleanors that are endorsed by Carroll Shelby himself.

Dibs- I have a tendency to go against the grain a bit. I am calling my next project "Ronaele".

I have to asy, i think that thing looks great, but I agree wiht the skeptacisim of some. Im my mind, 2 years for a project like that is pretty darn fast and to drive it 8 miles?? I want at least 118 miles of _burnout tracks_ on my car before I consider selling it. ;)

One word: eyesore. I suspect most of the vintage Mustang folks are a bit (if not more) tired of Eleanor. Sigh...

BTW, "numbers matching" doesn't really mean much in Ford land since Ford didn't typically number its motors or trannys like the General and other manufacturers. About the best you can hope for is "date code matching". Yet another reason to sigh at that auction.

Something don't add up with that auction. For a car that is not suppose to be a Unique Performance car, it sure has every part on it. Not to mention new seller and new bidder. Maybe someone should call his Uncle Jim?

Amen Brother! I can't stand the Eleanor cars. And don't get me started on Unique Performance.

Who gives a rats butt about numbers matching on a car like that? It means absolutely nothing, plus the auction even says that it has a SVO R302 block...

In the more stuff section, he talks about a rare original 71 Mach I gas cap? I am not sure why you would want a 71 cap on your 67, or how it would be considered original?
I do like the 67 stangs though and think this is a fine looking ride. I just think if it were mine, I would have had to put more than 8 miles on it before I sold it.

Before the Eleanor cars showed up, the '71 pop open cap was already kinda getting hard to find. Then when they used the cap on the Eleanor movie cars and folks wanted to emulate them, the caps became extra rare (read super expensive). Eventually someone started reproducing it, but it's not as good as the original '71 cap. As for putting it on a '67, it is a nice looking cap...

Problem with Eleanors is they all look exactly alike. So anyone could generate a bogus auction on ebay and scam the highest bidder out of a hefty deposit. That may be why this one sounds a little kooky.

the only thing that has a sign of an abs car is a plug on the left side on the back wheels but there is no way that car has abs in the front unless it has those generic abs systems that guess and dont use a wheel speed sensor i thought they didnt make that anymore ...car looks good but like Steve said there is no way that car seen street because of the zinc that looks like a car that only been rolled in a shop lol

I am so TOTALY sick of those cars!!! The original was a Yellow 73(?) anyway. I do remember a epay auction that the owner said his car WAS a original GT500 that was nothing more than a shell and a VIN # and he built a Eleanor out of it,If so it may be the only real one.

How can you be sick of these cars? A well done machine should be appreciated period! Think about it for a minute. That's like saying your sick of Camaro's, and there are millions of them out there.
