The less sidewall, the firmer the ride but a well designed suspension will soak up a lot of the ride and since the emphasis of this site is musclecars built to handle and be driven hard, we make all kinds of compromises that other people might not tolerate because these aren't new Buicks built for a blue hair. Just the same as a person who buys a Z06 instead of a 6 cylinder Camaro. He has different goals and is willing to make compromises to get them.

The typical reason for staggering the diameter front to rear is because the rear diameter won't turn comfortably in the front wheelwells and to get it to sit as low as possible without rubbing and it looks cool. It's also inspired by modern supercars that stagger the diameters for the same reasons.
