      96-98 Sebring Convertible Seats

      Gentlemen,

I'm thinking about getting a set of Sebring Convertible front seats for my 66 Cutlass. Where is the cheapest place to get a set? Can I buy them new or can I only find them in a junkyard or Ebay? Who is the OEM manufacturer-I assume it's not Chrysler.

      Thanks

      Sebring Seats

Lee, I hope someone has told you that the floor of the car isn't reinforced for the seat belt to be in the seat. The force at impact
in a car such as yours was designed to hold the driver in position with the shoulder belts not the weight of a person and the seat bolted to the floor. I know people have installed those type of seats in a lot of cars . We have the 3 point retractable seat belts that will bolt into your cars original mounting locations. Billy

How does one go about reinforcing the floor? Also, the original belts are bolted to the floor, so wouldn't the floor bear the weight of the occupant and the seat in the event of an accident anyhow?

      Floor reinforcing

      Lee,
Sorry I don't know the answer to reinforcing the floor. We just
make seat belts for Muscle cars that have the third point in the roof as the manufacture has tested the structure of the car for safety. Unless you just like the Sebring seats why not just bolt in a set of our seat belts?

You going to need to fabricate brackets anyway. You could see if it's possible to fab a 6-hole mounting system that uses the four bolts for the original seats and the extra two for the seat belt.

To be honest, yes in a frontal collision its the seat belt mounts that take the brunt of the force (from your body). But if you think about it, if your hit from the rear, the seat would have to take most of the impact force. So I would expect the original mounts should be strong enough anyway.

The seatbelt bolt hole either has a large diameter stamped steel plate welded to the bottom of the car or is contained in a floor brace. If you look at the floor from UNDER the car you will see this... You would have to mimic this floor support when you install the seats.

With that being said, eBay, craigslist, local paper, local junk yard or one that is willing to ship. (Shipping is not cheap for seats)

Thanks Gents. I have located a few sets of these seats. Waiting to get pics/prices. I'm working on finding a local welder to fab/weld the seat brackets. The more interesting part will be getting the electronics part right. From what I understand there's a module that controls a remote g-sensor and the solenoid that locks/releases the seat belts.

I know I'm probably reaching---Anyone know if 2001-2004 and 1996-98 electronics would be compatible on these seats?
