fuel pressure mystery
I thought I was having vapor lock problems because I was stalling out after the car got hot, so I replaced my mechanical fuel pump with a carter electric along with a pressure gauge. I also had previously insulated my fuel lines and added a 1/2 inch wood spacer below the carb. When the car is cold the pressure gauge reads around 7 psi. When the engine gets up to temp, the pressure gauge reads 0. Car is still running, just no reading on the gauge. I have an aftermarket fuel tank without the factory vent tube, so I thought maybe that was the problem. Even with the gas cap off, it still acts the same. Any ideas? I think I'll have to try another gauge to see if it acts the same.

Is it a liquid filled gauge? The silicone expands with heat and equalizes with the fuel pressure.

do you have a return line? what size are the fuel lines?

Your car can't run with no fuel pressure. As said the liquid filled gauges are junk for fuel pressure. They will read 0 when hot. Get a non liquid filled and go from there.
