      Bat signal from Pro-Touring

Hey guys, I got the bat signal. My dog GG came looking for me and I could not figure out what was wrong. Then I saw the light.

I read the post and I would like to thank all the people I know on this site who look out for my privacy. Over the years I have met many great car guys that have become my friends.

I try to share what I can on what I have learned about building Pro-Touring projects over the years. I used to be more open then people would get mad if I didn't want to take a phone call from them about wheel offsets at 11:30 at night, or answer a two page email telling me their life story...Jeesh... I am happy to help people who want to do this style car. I have done a few things right and wrong. There are many ways to get a car done. I will be happy to admit I've been wrong on some of my builds but I keep on learning and having fun.

The whole point of building these cars is to have a good time and meet cool people that have the same interest. Go ahead and post questions and I will chime in when I can. My buddies forward them to me....

      Thanks

      Mark Stielow

See you guys at SEMA and the optima Shoot Out

Mark, glad to see you're still out there protecting the "Pro-Touring Way" Your latest project is the best yet! Welcome back! Funny story (to me anyway)....two years ago I talked to you for about a half hour at Autorama in Detroit about your car. I then walked away and about an hour later I went "HOLY CRAP THAT WAS STEILOW!!!!!" I'm an idiot, you're my hero. Okay enough sucking up.

Very Cool - there is much to be learned from those that have been down the road before.

Thanks for offering up your past experiences (good and bad) for us to learn from. Lord knows, I tend to figure out 10 ways not to do something before finding the way that finally suits me.

You have done quite a bit for our industry and respecting the privacy of a member that we respect is the least this community could do. Thanks for the knowlege you share with us, it helps us all out in the end!

Mark, I hear you may have had something to do with the suspension in my HHR SS. If so, awesome!

Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?
Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Would you rather be the architect of what we might create?

Seeing the original build pictures of the Red Witch in that old Hot Rod inspired me like no other before or since. I still have that issue, at least 13 years old now. And I was a big car nut before, but when I saw those big wheels tucked under the muscle car body, it was awesome.

Years ago Mark had the red car at a Toronto show. This was shortly after it had been featured in Hot Rod. I stopped to talk to him and ask some questions (probably the same lame questions he had been answering all weekend) and found him to be very pleasant. I had the impression that the whole "public appearance" thing was new to him at the time, but never did he give me the impression that I was intruding. Unlike the guy with the customized T-bird (which was also featured in HR).
Mark has made a huge contribution to our hobby just by building and talking about his cars. I will definitely be buying his "Mule" book when it is published. Maybe some of it will sink in.

I promise not to call at 11:30 PM anymore. Is 11PM ok?
