And to be fair, even if you would have gone to get the car the trailer mishap would still have happened..

Takes time for them to get closer to a full load to make it worthwhile business wise. That sucks.

You're probably right about the trailer hub thing, but I know since I wouldn't drive a Dodge my truck wouldn't have broken down ;)

Just hoping others can learn from my mistakes.

The other thing you have to be sure of when hiring a smaller company is that they are insured properly, or make sure you have it insured-or both.

BTW I was in the towing business for 12 years and others who have posted about that are absolutely right, Make sure whoever delivers it is properly covered. I have plenty of coverage, I just can not "tow for hire". That is why I said you can help with the gas not I would charge you a fee.
Hopefully my deal is not dead yet and we can still work this out. Oh, and you can have Tony's spare bedroom. I have seen his garage pictures and I am afraid if I was there overnight I would be tempted to bring an extra one home.

Damn.. I was hoping you could do the Texas deal.. central TX is a LOT closer than NC

Let me know if it changes.. I have a few leads to check on Monday with reccomended transport companies..

2411 miles from me to my car.. lets see at an average speed of 65mph that is only 37 hours if you go non-stop.. It is also 160 gallons of gas at an optimistic 15mpg. @ $2.50 a gallon that is $400 each way for gas.

So in about 80 hrs and $800 in gas I could have the car here.. hmmm -- Worst case would be 4 days (96 hours) and $1000 in expenses.

Let me know Bill.. is the sticking point the cost of the car in Texas??

The price is one factor. The main reason though is the car is a nice one and I think he is wanting to try and hang on to it. I have been there myself, think about selling something then the more I would look at it the more I really wanted to keep it. His dad may want it too so he is trying to make a decision this weekend. Ironically, his dad lives in N.C. so there may still be a empty truck coming your way. I should know something tommorrow. I will let you know as soon as possible. Oh, I hate to rub it in, but gas is only $2.19 here today. Maybe the average across country would be around $2.50. Now you know why I jumped on this thread, might as well let you help pay my way out there anyway.

Edit: Sorry Steve, just got the news. Looks like the car will be staying in Texas for now. If there is anything else I can do for you other than bring it to you, let me know. If I got it here, at least it would be closer for you.
Someone mentioned intercity and when I was at Barrett-Jackson they had 15 or more trucks there. I have heard nothing but good about them so they would be a good option I think.

That would be correcto there Steve. Thanks to a post here in the for sale section from a fellow member, I now own a new project. It is a 1965 Lemans convertible with GTO hood and tail panel fins. I have also aquired an LS1 and I think I will come on over to the dark side. I will get some pictures up soon. Thanks for working with me John, I will make you proud of the car.
