Where is a good site or reference page that shows and tells how to do the Guldstrand mod on 1st gen Camaro subframes?

      Thanks

go to Camaro Tech and ask David Possi, in fact I believe he has a very informative web site.

So the basic of it is to simply take a cutting wheel, cut off the mount, cut 3/4" off completely around the bottom, then weld it back on the subframe after moving it back slightly around 1/2"? Anything in particular to look out for? I plan on trying to do the cutting of it this weekend.
So after reading Pozzi's site I'm curious about the "cons" of doing the G-mod as well (breaking and corner exiting acceleration). I've only heard raves of the mod, but havne't heard anybody complain about the negatives. Are there any that I should be aware of? I'm not going to be racing the car or overly pushing it so maybe I should just let it go??? But on the same note, it's down to it's bare shell and if I don't do it now I'll never do it.

Um... no. You drill two new holes on the existing mount and trim a bit off the top to allow the a-arms to fully move. You theoretically could cut the whole mount off but it isn't necessary and it could screw up the geometry if you aren’t careful.

Global West recomends that you just use their upper A arms without the Guldstrand mod for normal street use. If you will autocross or open track your car, the Guldstrand mod is required for best handling.

In my opinion, it works on street cars very well if you like to hang a corner now and then. The only negative is a little more stiffness in front roll rate (not really a negaitive) and the potential for more inner tire edge wear but you can run less static neg camber than a non-Gmod camaro. No one has reported excessive wear.

Andy, I thought I had read somewhere about shifting the mount back 1/2" also (on Pozzi's site) but none the less if it's just the 3/4" lowering of the UCA then yes I can see it's easiest to just redrill new UCA mounting holes 3/4" lower on the mount and cut off the access on the top as you say.... am I saying this correctly?

To go back to the shifting the mount back 1/2" seems like that would give you more camber when turning the wheels, your angling the spindal back which keeps the tires flat when straight but angles them more in the turns???... bare with me guys, I'm new at this!!

      Thanks again

Yes, more caster helps the tire stay flat when the wheel is turned. A Camaro spindle has 8 3/4 degrees of "kingpin angle" built into it, so the wheel wants to tip out as it is turned. Extra positive caster reduces this.

Here is a link to some pics I took when doing the mod. I have done it both ways, and prefer cutting off the mount. I believe this method looks better. Drilling new holes is easier, but by the time you are done trimming the mount, it doesn't look so good.
