Your house is likely made out out of wood. It comes down to the construction technique, not the material. Their is no reason you couldn't safely build such from wood.

if it is well engineered, he did all the homework for you. that's worth something. and it has all the hardware, so, it 'might' be worth $300.
although, anyone that builds cars, should be able to design a wood rotisserie also.

We've got a whole stack of pallets, uh I mean rotisseries, alongside the building - I tell you what I'll sell 'em cheap!

Wood is an engineering material- it has repeatable mechanical properties that can be used for calculation.

Early aircraft were made of wood. The dehavilland Misquito fighter/bomber from WWII was aircraft plywood. Frank Costin, who worked there in the late 40's/early 50's designed the Marcos, Nathan sports racer, and Amigo using plywood torque boxes attached to each other with glue and nails for the car's chassis.

No reason a wood rotis. won't work.

It looks like two pallets stood up on end and are not even attached to each other. I'm sure it works but it looks a bit scary to me.

Tim's on the other hand at least looks like it's worth $300.

Looks like it "wood" do the job....

      1970 RS/SS350 139K on the clock:
89 TPI motor w/ 1pc rear seal coupled to a Viper T56 via Mcleod's modular bellhousing w/ hydraulic T/O bearing from the Viper, 12 bolt rear w/ 3.73 gearing, SC&C upper control arms, factory lowers with Delalums, C5 brakes at all four corners, Front Wheels 17x8's with Sumi 255/40/17 and Rear Wheels 17x9's with Sumi 275/40/17.

Looks like some wood and some steel. I think I'll do something similar when that time comes.

PT 4X4s and 2X6 look like pallets to you? What's the deck on your house look like? Wouldn't hesitate to use that rotisserie. WAY cheaper that building it your self out of steel.

Yes they look like pallets, no triangulation whatsoever. Properly designed you could build it stronger and with less wood, like Tim's. Like I said I'm sure it works though, it's not like we're building 2-post vehicle lifts out of wood. A stripped-out body shell isn't really that heavy.

Thanks Ron L, I used 4x4's for the uprights 2x4's for the braces, through bolted at intersections 1/2" nut and bolts and 1 5/8" steel tube and 2x2" square tube for Bumper mounts. Then to connect them I used two 2x4's. All for less than $150.00. Financially challenged collage student 17 years ago.
