By the looks of that car, the "teenagers" that vandalized it were probably no more than low winds catching the car at a bad angle.

Actually, there are a ton of those driving around here and there here in Canada. My friend bought one for his body shop business as a courtesy car/promotional vehicle.

The funny thing is, you should see how much attention it gets, the women just love them and think they are so "cute" and always want a ride, drive or just sit in them, take pictures etc.

I know they don't look very masculine but they sure get alot of attention from people.

BTW: Smart cars aren't for sale in the US are they? I think Mercedes brings them in for Canada only.

you are right. People tend to stereotype masculinity of a dude for what he drive's. Which even for what you drive people look up or down upon you.
Personally I would crack up if I saw that car going down the street, but who wouldn't.

It looks like 2006 they will offer Smart cars in the US... At todays gas prices (just hit 2.64 for regular here) 60mpg looks mighty attractive........

Really, if one of us came out of our house and saw that someone had vandalized their car, wouldn't we be here ranting and raving about it? Just because the car isn't to our taste, doesn't make it any less of a crime, or funny for that matter.

And another vote of agreement with what Keith said-do you guys laugh at spec Miata racers because they race "chick cars"?

I wouldn’t drive one of those...mostly cause I wouldn’t feel safe...and id never trade in my families or my own safety to save on a little gas. id gladly spend an extra 500$ a year on gas to be able to survive some drunk or idiot or 16 year old know it all T- boning me at an intersection…and i couldnt handle a vehicle that took 20+ seconds to get to hiway speed thats not very safe when all of the other cars on the road are flying by you at 75 mph while your trying to merg into traffic giving that little toy all its got at 45 mph. not only that I think they look pretty foolish…I don’t see why economy cant be stylish. And if any of you out there say you don’t feel a little stronger or tougher or more manly in your hi powered, loud muscle cars then I don’t believe you :3gears:.

Whats really funny is that car is a complete POS, and No self respecting "Man" would drive one. Its OK to feel certain things in this world are manly and others feminine, without being a sexist.... thats the problem with all the political correctness bs, and the feminizing of this country .... So to me it sounded alittle like you were speaking from your high horse....

Whoa! One pack less of sugar in your coffee man.....listen. I personally think the car is goofy but whatever. What does bother me is that by your and others exact statement, all of a sudden I need to go out of my way to make sure I drive a vehicle that is acceptably "manly". Suppose I thought that the smart car was pretty cool and I wanted to own one. So despite the fact that I live with my girlfriend, she drives a brand new 05 GT, I'm building a pretty cool 70 Chevelle (at least I think so) and I've owned about 4 Camaros and one Nova, me driving that thing means I don't respect myself and I'm less "manly" somehow?? I just think that train of though is kindof funny. By no means am I ever politically correct......or would I ever pull the sexist card. C'mon.

oh come on guys. I don't think Keith meant it in a way of showing masculinity. It was just a point that some people make judgements of masculinity by the car they drive.

Back on subject. That car reminds me of the car off of "Just married"
anyone seen this movie.

I agree it does look like a unsafe car. After being T-boned awhile back in a fullsize truck I would for sure hate to be hit in that thing. I wonder what the gas mileage would be?

Keith, I find it very hard to believe that a Chevelle owner would think that car is cool .Of course each is entitled to their own opinion but really its a geek-mobile. You have to draw the line somewhere. If fuel conservation is a concern buy a motorcycle. with that said I will walk away to the fridge beating my chest and dragging my knuckles to get a beer and bottle of Jack...

I guess I am one who thinks of cars as masculine or feminine. If you read the thread, it seems most of the posters where females too. I think one of the coolest cars out there right now is the mini cooper. The S models will haul a$$ too. I was not saying it had to be a chevy to pass the test I just hate the look of that particular car. As I said above, it looks like a overgrown tennis shoe to me and I would question any guy that picked one as his daily driver. Not so much his masculinity but just what was he thinking? The one Kevin posted probably gets just as much mileage but you gotta say it is way cooler looking- right?

What made me wonder about the owner was that he posted the incident on the web. I would have been at the school with the reward money in hand if I had an idea who did it, not talking about it on the web. Then when I did find the thugs I would no longer be the only one mad.

On the other hand, I did a few pranks myself in high school that came to mind when I read this. Anyone every put a car on blocks just high enough so the tires spin and the car will not move? Trust me, it will really pi$$ the football coach off!

I got one to add:

my senior year a guy and I stole the superintendents golf cart and drove it through the halls of the school and around the gym. Luckily we never got caught, but a few good teachers got good laughs. The superintendent wasn't well liked by students nor teachers. It was fun at the time!

Another thing we did was take a guys 80's chevette and place it in between two posts where he couldn't back up. A group of us had the move the car after getting in trouble.
I could go on and on. But those are a few funny ones.
