      Tim are you having the same fun I am having with my 7 yo learning to read? She brings home a small book every night to read & I am about to pull my hair out that it isn't sinking into her head quicker than it is. Driving me nuts.

      PHONICS !!!
      It's the only way to teach a kid to read. This "whole language" method is a bad joke. Lord knows the teachers couldn't teach mine how to read. I taught them the basics of phonics and their reading took off like a shot.
      I've been told that adult literacy classes use phonics to teach people how to read. Why not do it that way in the first place!?

      Yea Scot,, I cannot believe how much she has improved over the first 3 weeks. Her teacher says she is already reading 2nd grade work.
