      LS3 Accessories

Just picked up an LS3 without any accessories bolted on. The enegine will be going into a 69 Camaro...big surprise, right.
Need to know what location is needed (best) for the Alternator and a good source to order everything in one shot. This would include all pulleys, water pump, harmonic balancer power steering pump, etc
      Thanks for the help.

I left most of my accessories in the stock locations with stock pulleys except for the AC compressor.

I bought the same GM P/N 19155067 C6 Corvette accessory package linked in the above post for my LS3 crate engine, but I bought it for a lower price here: http://www.sdparts.com/product/19155067/ACSRYDRV.aspx

You'll also have to buy the correct damper (harmonic balancer) so the belts will line up (P/N 12620556) as it doesn't come with the accessory drive kit. My LS3 crate engine already had the correct damper on it since it's a C6 Corvette replacement engine.

To move the A/C compressor to a better and more serviceable location and at the same time avoid notching the front crossmember to make it fit I bought these A/C compressor relocation brackets:
      http://www.kwikperf.com/lsx_ac.html

Keep in mind that you're expected to use a Sanden compressor instead of the one from GM. You'll also need a single serpentine belt that is used instead of the two belts supplied in the GM accessory drive setup, Gates P/N K061010 (13/16" X 101-5/8").

This is the same bracket that I used on mine.

Another alternative, if you're willing to notch the frame, is f-body components--at least, I think these still work on ls3's?

Not positive as I went with the corvette setup, even though f-body setups are a very-tight-fight-but-no-notching sort of deal on 2nd gens.

(another angle on the corvette setup, to give you an idea of how it looks in a car) (ok maybe I just wanted to show it off a little)

My favorite LS set up is Wegner. They are more money then the GMPP stuff, but are engineered for high RPMs and great clearance of all subframes. We have them ready to ship

This is pretty much the route I'm taking, except I ordered the accessory kit without air because I was replacing the AC bracket and compressor. The accessory kit without air is around $500 or so.

I wish I'd have gone that route, now I have a compressor, bracket, tensioner and 2 belts that I can't use.

      Live and learn.

      Thank You all for responding.
Frank, What's your kit going for? Minus the A/C set-up. I'm not planning on running A/C in the car.

Forgot to ask about the correct style of Oil Pan to purchase as wel.
      Hows this one?

I chose the Autokraft pan, also sold under another brand name that I can't recall. It's priced at $399.95 right now.

It fits along with the Edelbrock engine mount adapter plates and headers I'm using.

Made for the '64 -72 A-body cars and '67 -'69 F-body cars and doesn't require the use of a remote oil filter if that matters to you.

How is that compared to the VA front runner setup?

The Vintage Air set up is a awesome kit. I think the Wegner Kit is a better high RPM unit.

      We sell both.

      Thanks Frank.

What defines 'high RPM' - over 7000? 6500+? Prolonged use over 5000? Just curious.

In Wegners world high RPM is 8000+ but even for use to 6500 which is easy to do these are the best out there. WAlthough, I know the VA units run to 7000 quite often so by no means am I saying they wont take RPMS

Personally for the price and looks, I prefer the Wegner
