Good, Bad or stay away from?

I just bought a set of wheels with rubber on them. The only problem is I think the tires are to small for the car. They are 225/45/17 I am putting them on my 67 Chevelle. I am looking at putting 245/45 on the front and 255/45 on the rear. I just priced a set of BF Goodrich G Sports and I can get them for $440 shipped. I also like the Nitto the only thing is I would much rather by stuff that is made in the USA and where the $$$$$ will stay here. I guess my question is are the Goodrich's decent tires. I am not racing the car or doing any hard cornering, it will be used to go to shows and to cruise it around. Thanks for any input.

BFG's are good tires they are made by Michelin, I have never had any problems with any BFG's I have owned. The only tire brand I wouldn't buy are Good for a year because thats about how long they last LOL

Even if the tire company is US, it doesn't always mean their tires are made here. It seems more companies are resorting to overseas manufacturers. I found this out when looking for trailer tires, even the Goodyear Marathons were being made in China or New Zealand. I notice Tirerack lists country of orgin in the tire specs, that may help you find the US made tire you want. Hope this helps some.

I drove a truck for years and we'd haul tires for General Tire out of Mt. Vernon, IL. Then they became Continential-General Tire. They made the Generals and Continential passenger car tires. They also made Yokohama and Toyo semi truck tires. USA made Yoko & Toyo tires. The car tires still floated over on a boat...

I figured that most of them are made overseas, but the way the economy is I would like to keep the $$$ here to keep our people employed. So I guess what I am saying is I am going to buy the BF's instead. I checked the tirerack and they are made here. Thanks guys.

I have three sets of NITTOS in the shop right now that all say made in the USA on the sidewall. A lot of Nittos manufacturing is now done in the States. Just FYI.

I literally just took this photo today with my phone. It is on the side wall of a Nitto 555.

Thanks, but i ordered the BF's earlier today. I was told that some of the Nitto's are made here but I still think the $$$$ goes baclk overseas. That is the main reason I bought the BF's. Thanks for the responses.

Might be made in USA, don't know, but the profits still don't stay at home.

      You read my mind....

I applaud your efforts, and at least you care enough to try and keep the money on our turf. Both companies employ Americans, so you can't go wrong.

      Just my two cents...

But I really like the BF Goodrich G Force sports - great tire for dry traction, great tread life, and quiet. The odd time I've been caught in the rain, they've worked great.

I just recently ordered a new set of wheels, and will be using BF Goodrich Tires again - just went with the KDW NT tire only because of the radical looking tread pattern. From what I've heard, and read they don't seem to be as favoured as the G Force Sports due to excessive noise, but are supposed to have the same or better handling characterstics of the Sports.

      Anyways more food for thought

      Good Luck!
