      The Grocery getter

Well, to be honest I know it isn't much to look at and it is lacking compared to many of the beauties on here, but I have dumped a lot of time and money into her and it was time for me to start posting. Truth is, I need more forum posts in order to post parts on the for sale page...
      Here's the basic stats:
      64 Chevelle four door wagon
327 relatively mild but somewhat fresh
B.G. road demon jr. 625 being replaced by a Holley off road avenger
200-4R Overdrive trans with lockup converter
12 bolt with eaton posi, 3.31 gears, moser axles
      Grand Cherokee steering box
      B-body spindles
12" front and 11" rear disc brakes
      SPC upper A-arms
      UMI rear lower control arms
      Edelbrock upper control arms
      Hotchkis front swaybar
      GM rear swaybar
newly installed wheel vintiques 17" ralley wheels
      BFGoodrich G-force KDW's

I think that is about it. I am waiting for my reinforced lower A-arms to come back from powder coating so I can install the new Del-a-lum bushings in them and that should be just about it before Run through the Hills... Oh yeah, I just bought a 95 LT1 to be installed at a later date. Keep in mind this is my secondary car project and I need to finish the house remodel before my wife kills me!

That looks awesome. It has a great stance and the 17's really look great from a proportions standpoint.

Thanks! I really like a little more sidewall, but to go with the stickier tires I didn't have a lot of choices. I think this winter I will have the wheels powder coated to the gun metal color the old ones were and it will dress down the look a little.

Way cool ride. I really want to build a wagon some day. I gotta get my build going and finished first. Nice work!

Your photochopped stance looks great! I saw a similar 83ish Saturday night at the local cruise.

      For those who asked:

      The wheels and tires were:
      Kelly Chargers UTQG 500
      front 215/65R15
      rear 245/60R15
      Factory 15x7" ralley with +/- 4.25 b.s.

      New wheels and tires are:
Bfgoodrich G-force T/A KDW second design UTQG 300
      front 205/50R17
      rear 235/50ZR17
Wheel Vintiques ralleys 17x7" front and 17x8" rear with 4.5 b.s.

Rears are tight, but so far so good.

I removed the flaming river column shift and replaced it with the IDITIT tilt floor shift column I had originally installed when I first bought it. I could never get the column shifter adjusted so I could get into 1st gear and manually shifting the column deal was out of the question. Sure, buying a B&M or Lokar shifter was an option, but I would like to go to a five speed eventually, so I built this one of 2x2"x.25 wall aluminum square tube and a .75 mild steel bar stock. I still need to build a lock out to keep me from accidentally shoving it into reverse but good enough for now...

You need to host it on photobucket, then paste the URL in the window after hitting the picture icon in the tool bar above the window where you type the post. Hope that makes sense.

cool wagon. my Dad always talks about his '65; he had it w/ a 283 and a 3 spd manual w/ overdrive. don't know why they wouldn't of just put a 4 spd in it, though.
lots of room in them wagons, cool project!

really like the new wheels. I've been looking at those for my 65 but always thought they only came billet. The grey paint keeps the old school look. Where did you find your dash, I'm about to install new gauges in mine but I like your look better than stock with different gauges

Thanks! I really like the wheels also, but they weigh a ton compared to the factory 15" ralleys. Worth it in my opinion to get some modern stickies mounted though.
On the dash I just cut the center out of my old dash and epoxied 1/8" sheet aluminum (maybe an old street sign, maybe not...) after cutting all the holes. Definitely not that pretty up close, but knowing what I know now it could probably be done better.

I'd love to have one in roughly that vintage to use as a tow-rig.
