I have a 750 vac sec Speed Demon and after a drive and the motor cools the choke sticks open. Any thoughts?.

On the speed demon, it is possible for the choke linkage to hang up on the air cleaner housing flange. It may be necessary to use a ball peen hammer or such tool to modify the flange.

By air cleaner housing flange do you mean the lip that the inner part of the air cleaner bottom goes around?

No I'm talking about the air cleaner bottom itself, the flange that mates with the carburetor gets in the way of the choke linkage.

Ah I had already done that but it even sticks with the air cleaner off.

The fast idle cam linkage may be sticking but a properly tuned carb will not require a choke.

You could remove the choke all together. You really don't need it...

Is it an electric or manual choke?

      It is an electric choke.

When it's cold, you need to stab the throttle one time to set the choke before you turn the key. Stab it one time and if the choke is set right, it should close up and keep that first squirt nice and rich for the motor to fire off ice cold.

how does a properly tuned car not need a choke? that's a pretty blanket statement. maybe if you live in an area with one temp only, but what about New York? here a day could be 80 with the night at 40*f

      I live in Pittsburgh........................................ .................................................. ........................................^

I don't run a choke on my 83 Olds 98 either. It sits outside all the time..It fires right up in 0 degree weather.. It's been run that way for over 100,000 miles...

A choke is for that lady in a hurry who starts the car up and takes off 10 seconds later... I don't drive any of my cars in that manner..

Your engine will last longer without that raw fuel running down the cyl walls every time the choke thermostat cools, this is especially bad for the hi performance motor with the intake heat exhaust ports blocked off. You will add a few cfm to your carb by removing the choke butterfly..

Had the same problem with mine--I returned the carb thinking it was a bad carb, come to find out the cable connected to the choke wasn't installed properly.
