      Ford Commercial I Never Saw

I never saw this Ford commercial.

      Thought I'd share.

Kind of long for a commercial. Nice to see though.

      WOW! What a great commercial!
I am not useless, I can still be used as a bad example!

that originally aired during a special episode of a show called "American Dreams". Ford bought all the ad time during the episode and it showed commercial free, except for that commercial right in the middle of the episode.
in the show, the kid in the family was coming home from 'Nam and his dad had a brand new Mustang waiting for him just like the commercial. hell, it was probably the very same Mustang that the dad owned in the commercial, and maybe it was even supposed to be the same family 40 year later.

I'd just like to note...the new one is most certainly NOT almost as beautiful as the dad's.

      That is all.

I thought I saw that before. I remember the episode now. It was either I saw it before or I had become prophetic, pretty sure it's NOT the latter.

I had seen that a little before, but it bothers me that they seem so uncomfortable and disconnected, even awkward, as if there is a big elephant in the room nobody wants to talk about.
How about a bear hug for the guy that just bought you a freaking brand new car eh?
Did they never celebrate Christmas or anything before?
I guess in my house it was REAL different.
I appreciate the sentiment though, I'll give it an 8.

Interesting comment. I had similar thoughts about the lack of emotion and connection. Considering his father also was a military man, based on the pics he was looking at in the house, it brought me to figuring his dad was a 'Nam guy. Mine was too and that entire situation about emulates my dad and I, unfortunately. I'd like more and different but there is something in there that can't be broken. Maybe it was a 'Nam thing, maybe a coincidence I don't know. Some of my buddies struggle with the same type of lack of closeness with their fathers who also served. Just my take on it.

I can't speak about it personally, but maybe it has to do with the awkwardness that comes from shared/similar traumatic experiences? Sort of a mix of we-both-did-it-so-we-both-understand, but at the same time, neither want to think of it ever again?

errr, while the '69 Mustang is my all-time favorite Mustang design, the 05-09 S197 cars have been tempting me since the day they came out. I don't know how wide or narrow your definition of "almost" is (as if it had an objective unit of measure) but I'm inclined to agree with the original statement.

      Wait for the 2011's... 400hp, 5.0L modular + 6spd.

As far as the Father/Son deal. It was awkward but it sounded like dad wasn't around much, due to the military(?). Over the car, they did have that understanding of things they had seen they didn't want to talk about, and it seemed as if that the car was about all they had in common.

Dad and I don't even have that. "Here's a wrench, I need the truck running by 6am. Ask your sister to hold the flashlight."

Good commercial. Now I'd like to see Chevys version with a Camaro and Dodges version with a Challenger.
