      Seat recovering question.

Hey all I have a question, I just picked up a set of Grand Prix GTP seats to go in my Olds Cutlass. They are black perforated leather and look really nice. The car I pulled them from still has the rear seat in it that is in good shape as well. Could I take that rear seat and either cut the seat pad and cover down to mount on the frame of the old Cutlass rear seat. Or should I use the material to make a cover the old seats?

Have you tried putting them side by side (out of the car) to see if the GTP seat cover is as big or bigger than the Cutlass seat? The Cutlass seat may be larger and there may not be enough material from the GTP seat to cover it.

I will have to measure to be sure but I'm fairly certain the GTP seat is actually wider than the Cutty seat.

My Cutlass is an '80. I'm going out today to measure the GTP rear seat.

An upholstery shop could downsize the cover if it had to be smaller.

Well the GTP rear seats were about an inch narrower than the stock Cutty seats.

I grabbed it up and I'm going to figure out how to mount it up as is so it will have the more contoured seats in the rear.
