      Project Silver State Bird

Been here a while getting motivation for my project and thought I'd start sharing mine as I'm moving forward now. Wasn't sure what I was gonna do with the frame but now theres a few companies out making full frames so I ordered the max g form highland daytona but after waiting over a year on an 8 week turnaround I'm not sure if I'm gonna even get a frame or my money back(talked to some lawyers already). Anyways I've got the tubs cut out to fit 355/30/18's and am just about ready to get the shell off to the blaster so I can see exactly what I'm working with. I did have the globalwest set up on it with a 550hp 455 and a tko600 and it was a blast to drive but now I'm gonna go with something a little more race oriented. I've been drooling over running the silver state run downin nevada so I'm hoping to have this set up for the 160 mph class for 2011.

Sorry no pictures yet I'll get some up soon. When finished it'll be bright silver with the anvil carbon fiber decklid and blacked out rear along with a carbon fiber formula/cowl hood and the blue 70 trans am stripe down the middle.
Gonna go with these forgelines with 18x9.5 or 10 in the fornt and some 18x13's in the rear. Will be switching te rear from its current 12 bolt to a 9" with coil overs all around. I have dr. gas nascar style boom tubes and 3 1/2" oval exhaust with x-pipe for exhaust and will be switching the tko for the new magnum 6 speed.

I'll also be redoing the motor. Its a 30 over 455 right now but I think I'm gonna go with a KRE 650 to 700 horse crate motor with possible fuel injection from one of there new block castings with probably 510 cubes or so.

wow is right! This sounds like a great project. Those wheels pop! Do post pictures as soon as you can. Even if it is the old configuration. We love pictures!

I can picture the concept and you are definitely on to something. I love the forgelines, especially with the blue lip. I don't know if I would ever pull the trigger on those, but if you accomplish what you have described, then you will have one of the best looking 'birds around. Keep us posted.

Just an FYI, first time at the silver state you'll be limited to the 110 mph class. Build sounds badass

it will be my first time at silver state but I want to build the car for the class I'll end up in. I'm gonna paint the trans am stripe the same color as the wheel lip so it should go together a little better. I'm thinking black seats with the same color blue stiching.

I don't know if anyone has seen the death by pontiac logo but I'm thinking of ghosting that in behind the windows or some thing but it may be too much. I haven't seen this yet but on the doors I'm gonna use the first gen door handles. I like the push button handle look a lot better.

You'll want to limit items extruding from the body as much as possible. I'd nix the 1st gen door handles for that reason alone.

I like the look. If i was going for the unlimited class I wouldn't do it but it shouldn't be any problem for me at 160mph. There was a 68(?) that was doing 180mph+ a while ago.

What is going on with the suspension? Meaning, are you staying with the Global West? Any before pics?

I sold the Global west last year when I ordered the Max-G systems frame. It was supposed to be tube frame in 2 peices with a 4 link rear, coilovers and rack and pinion. Now since they don't seem to be making my frame or willing to give me my money back I'm gonna start saving for the art morrison max g setup with the 3 link since the cars gonna be more of a streetable race car than the other way around.

      still needs a little trimming

the Dr. gas boom tubes I'll be using as mufflers
I'm gonna try to notch them into the body here

The hood I've been working on for about 5 yrs now
(I need to really get this thing done)

At least with the A/M set up you can just head down to my neck of the woods and check up on it! I've yet to swing by their shop but would love to take a tour.

Good to see the progress Joel!
