      Cost for media blast

Going to get my 69 Camaro media blasted inside and out. This will be the front sheet metal, the body minus the subframe/engine/trans, and the inside.

I was told 10 hours at 250 an hour. The hours seem to be about right but the cost seems a bit high to me. It is Long Island, NY...but 250 and hour?

I paid $900 for Nova body tub, one door, and subframe. Included epoxy primer too.

I paid $900 for body, frame, doors, fenders, bumpers, core support, control arms, sway bars, etc, etc.

      that price is crazy.

Pretty much what I was thinking... The car is at a shop and they outsource the media blasting, will tell them I will call around to get a better price if that is what it takes.

I've been quoted $2000 to do plastic media inside and out my 70 challenger here in Dallas. I ended up going with a soda/salt type alternative for $900. Couldn't find many plastic media people at all, much less a cheaper one. Maybe if it is plastic media that could have something to do with the price?

I had the main shell inside and out, minus front fenders, hood, subframe and trunk , If I remember was 650.00, plus they shot the por-15 metal ready (I think thats the name, been on the bare metal for 6 months in humitity with no rust forming)

I've checked locally for my car on just the shell alone, and the quote was over 1500.. thats from 3 different places within a 75 mile radius. needless to say, I haven't had it done yet, and at those prices, I probably wont. I'll be looking into other places even if I have to travel a bit....

Hi my name it Trinity and i own Elite Media blasting and Refinishing in Jackson Tn. Here in Tn I charge $100hr and to do the complete car inside and out and generally takes around 9-12 hrs to finish including subframe and suspension. I would say shop around for a reputable company in your area that specializes in automotive media blasting. Asking for a portfolio of some of there work wouldn't hurt either. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks
