It is too early for me to know what time I will be leaving Raleigh. I will stop at RPM and at my company, Right of Way Equipment on my way. Should be back on the road by lunchtime.

      Thurs

Not sure the time yet, I am going to watch the weather and hopefully miss the rain. Dad is pulling the Chevelle as long as his brakes are better after the pedal change. I am driving the camaro as long as it isnt pouring. If the weather is good we are leaving around lunch time. That would put us around Greensboro 2 or 3.
I havent had much time to get on the forum lately. You can stay in touch on my email [email protected] goes to my phone. It would be great to meet up with a few people on the way. or call me 910 978 4070

Hate I missed this thread. I'm in Summerfield, 10 miles north of Greensboro. I'm heading out sometime Thursday morning/afternoon. Not driving anything spectacular but will be taking lots of pics.

Yeah the weather is killer. My car is no trailer queen but I don't like to drive it in the rain. When I finish the 65 I'm getting a trailer.

I guess I'm going to leave in the morning. I will check tomarrow night and see if there is any more response. And put a definitive time down.

Hey MiGoat. I am working in Newport, about 35 miles from pigeon forge. The weather was great yesterday, but that can change.

Don't sweat a little rain. My drive to Michigan for the MSC included nearly seven hours in the wet. Elky did not melt. Yeah it makes for a big clean up, but don't let it spoil the fun of a road trip in your Hotrod. That is at least half the fun. See you on the road.

Hey Mike, any idea how your drive schedule is looking? I'm hoping to make Asheville mid to late Thursday after noon. I'll be taking I-26 to 40, then taking the Foothills Parkway over to Cosby/321 into Gatlinburg.

Me and the old man are leaving from Wake Forest on Thursday morning and taking 2 maybe 3 cars if the interior guy finishes the 3rd one.

Steve, If all goes well I should make Asheville around 3:30 to 4:00. Sounds like you know your way around up there better than me. I hope to avoid driving down the Parkway in the late PM traffic. Seems everytime I roll into PF I hit stand still traffic which sucks after an 8 hour drive. Call my cell if you will be nearby around then or during the day to get a closer fix on our ETAs.

you may already know this but:

if you are coming from north carolina you could get off at the newport exit (432?) and head east on 411. it starts out as newport highway and turns into dolly parton parkway. turn left off of dolly parkway onto verterans blvd.
veterans takes you straight to pigeon forge.

if you do a maps search of the address to the hotel you can see some backroads that will get you closer to the hotel before you have to cross the parkway.

      Drive up

I will know more tomorrow on the time we will be leaving. I am not so much worried about the rain bacause of clean up. Obviously being a vert I will have to put the top up which means I have to take the boot cover off and for anyone who has messed with that PITA you know what I mean. Taking it off is a super easy its putting it back on that is a pain. Car has never been in the rain so I hope I dont have any leaks... Gonna hook up a Ipod player tomorrow so the wife will be happy on the way, there just arent enough XM channels Guess Ill put the top up and spray some water around to check for any leaks

Howell did pass that info to me. I want to avoid the Parkway as much as possible.
      Thanks

The parkway I'm talking about is exit 443, which takes you into Cosby, to 321. Once you get close to Gatlinburg, you can cut off on a back road to avoid 441.

I enjoy the Foothills Parkway too much to drive further down 40. Just love the twisties and the big 15mph curve @ the end. 321 does tend to be irritating at times when you get behind the short bus.
