      Tire selection

Hey Guys I need a tire recommendation.

The car is a 1990 ZR-1 and is bone stock including the rims. Looking for a stock tire size (I think it is a 305 series tire) that will withstand heavy street use plus occasional autocross abuse. NEed a good speed rating recomendation also. looking to get about 25K miles out of tire.

      Kerry

      - 1967 Pontiac GTO (Daily Driver): "Yes those are rust holes, no you may not stick your arm through them"

      - 1967 Buick GS340: "fiberglass?!?! Who the heck patches a floor and brace with fiberglass!!!" - Sold this car so I wouldn't spend any more money on it.

Slowly I have become a casualty to the army of cars and motorcycles I have stashed away.

      Bfg Kd

Just to let you know, I am biased and towing the company line.

The BFGoodrich g-force T/A KD was designed exactly for what you are talking about. Driving on the street, with occasional track use. It is a compromise, so they won't give you as much speed as a pure race tire on the track, but also will give you decent wear life and be safe if it rains.

You can get them through any dealer or by mail order from places like The Tire Rack. Were's my commision??? :3gears:

ZR-1's came with 275/40/17 fronts and 315/35/17 rears. If it were me,I would look hard at Michelin's or Goodyear's Ultra HP tire lines.
I ran Michelin Pilots on my modified 90 ZR-1 and Pilot Sports on my 91 Callaway Aerobody ZR-1.
