Likely moving to AZ...

My aunt got herself at a school in Tucson. Pretty much my entire immediate family is living in the Flint area right now (my parents, and most of my aunts/uncles). My parents & I are helping her move down there, and I'm taking a lot of my own stuff on the premise that I will be living there (she offered me a room should I choose to have it). Could anyone give me a general lay of the land for the area? :D I'll be taking my '92 Sierra which is stock, but on down the road (sometime in the next couple years) I'll probably be taking my '78 Malibu down, and I'm not sure what I'll have to be concerned about. The motor in it right now is basically a 9:1 Vortec-headed sbc, with a Comp XE268H cam. I checked and I think I'm good on the cam (says it's 50-state legal), but what about the intake? It's a GMPP intake with an Edelbrock 1405 on it. I have a Pypes exhaust system with an x-pipe, and I understand I'll need cat(s) down there, but would it be legal to run a pair with my current system? I've never had to deal with inspections or emissions in MI, so the thought's never crossed my mind.
