puffing blue-glazed cylinders?
My car started puffing blue upon start and for about 10 min when at idle once at operating temp. I attributed it to valve seals, and had them replaced by the builder at no charge. Motor has 3000 miles on it.
The puffing blue has decreased by about 50% but is still there. I have been advised( not by the builder) that it may be that a lot of oil built up in the exhust and is puffing out. So I ran the car in 3rd for a long while to really heat up the exhaust and burn out any oil. No change.
A month back my car was runing like crap on a trip home at night. it was popping and bucking, running rough. I stopped several times on the way home, but could find nothing obvious with a flashlight at the side of the road. The trip was 40 - 50 miles. The next morning I found that 2 plug wires came off the looms and were burned on the headers. # 1 and # 6 ( my wires are routed down the firewall and under the motor, so could not see them from the top).
So if I was running two non firing cylinders for 40 -50 ,miles could I have glazed the cylinders with fuel? If so is a re-honeing the cylinders the only fix?
I did a compression test:
1 -165
3 -160
5 -160
7- 160
2-160
4-160
6-165
8-162
