Cutlass flares?
Anyone know of some flares similar to the GNX flares for the G/A body Olds Cutlass? Or has anyone fit the GNX flares to their Olds? I know that the wheel well shape is different on the two cars. With the more aggressive look that I'm going for with the car the stock flat fenders just won't work.

07-30-2009 #2Angelo Valenti sells a set of flares for the g-body Cutlass. http://www.freewebs.com/fe3xconcepts...undeffects.htm More pics are available here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/494256 They are duplicates of the flares used on the famous FE3X Cutlass proto-type built by Olds.
That's the only ones that I know of that are being made for our Cutlass. I've been looking for something simular myself. At least some I can afford...Doug Gulley

07-30-2009 #3AFAIK the FE3X repros are the only ones.
07-30-2009 #4Hmm well its good to know those are available but not my favorites.
Anyone know what it would take to make the GNX ones fit? I know its been done I just have not seen and of the cars in person to see what was done or how well they really pulled it off. I'm not really looking for "perfect" but close enough you know?
maybe I will just have to make my own."I can drive any forking thing around"

08-04-2009 #5the Cutlass wheel openings are more square than the other models, so I think it would be pretty hard to modify the round ones to fit.
I'm debating cutting and welding in metal to my fenders to flare them. if you have a spare set of fenders, you could do this and then make a fiberglass flare that bolts on to the real fenders.

I had bought a set years and years ago before I started my project just to see what they would look like on my '87:

I taped them on to see how much of a mismatch there would be. If you go this route, you'll have to make quite a few brackets to hold it on. The only place that the GN fender flare actually touches the wheel well lip is at the front and back lower corners and in the top/middle of the wheel well.Andrew

you could use fenders and quarters from a Regal, I suppose (esp. if you already have to replace them)
08-05-2009 #8Well my driver side fender is screwed up right next to the wheel arch. Nothing I could not fix with my tools, just takes time to get it perfect. I might dig around the local yard see if I can find Regal fronts to put on, or maybe Monte fenders. I was thinking of taking and modifying a Monte SS nose to resemble something of a more aerodynamic Olds front anyway. Though if I can find some good steel bumpers I might just make a custom header panel.
EDIT:
Hmmm I got thinking about it and I think that I could make some spacing brackets to fill out the space between the flares and fenders."I can drive any forking thing around"
