First post from NJ with 467 CID 68 GTO

Hello all! I have a 1968 GTO clone with 61K miles that I have owned for 15 years. The motor is a 467 CID which is a 428 Pontiac .060 and stroked, roller cam, .630 lift, ported aluminum heads, ported Torker II, 950 Biggs Holley carb, sumped fuel system, Richmond 5-Speed 2.88 first gear and a Currie 9-inch with 4.10 gears. Interior is stock except for a nice sound system and working air plumbed in. I am bored with the car and making it faster, looking into a Cheater NOS system, and getting the car caged this year.

I'm also looking into rims for the car now, like a 15x10, 17x10 or 18x10 in the rear for bigger drag radials and a smaller 6" rim for the front. My goal is to make a street car that runs low 10's, 150+ MPH top speed, be reliable and look good. I plan on driving it 10K miles a year and use it as a daily beater for stuff as long as it is not raining. I checked the forums on rim and tire sizes and would like to get that issue settled this week as far as rims and tires go as my rear tires are fried due to me beating the snot out of them (650 HP on a 12.5" tire is never good-lol).

Anyhow, in real life I own a small computer company that sells and fixes computers, laptops, data recovery and the like. Gary, Merchantville, NJ

Thanks guys for the nice welcome! I am still looking into rims for the car and would like to seal a deal this week, and have my old set up on Craig's List with all tires , tubes, centercaps, lugs for $500 firm, so hope they sell soon.

I think I can only safely go with the 18x10 width wiseand was going to the 305/35-18 rear with 5.75 backspace and a 245/45-18 for the front. Nitto drags on the rear. I just do not want rubbing issues or the like, so don't want to push the 11" rim or larger tires. My GTO and Viper pics are here http://www.gementerprises.com/cars.html and you can click on them, but the pictures of the GTO are my older slower motor and anyhow the car has some scratches on it from driving it. Anyone have any place for rims and tires? I am looking to spend $4,000 or below and want them ASAP, but would love to get under the bus for $2-$3K. Not sure on the black center on my car, but black cetners with the polished lip looks great on my Viper Anyhow, thanks for the warm welcome and looking forward to my new look with more tuned HP! Gary

Welcome! Nice sounding car with a mean engine. Pics please!

For wheels call Frank at Prodigy Customs. He has some great deals on Forgeline wheels. His service is spot on as well. I have some Forgeline S03 wheels with black centers and polished hoops I got from him. See my build thread if you want to check out the pics.

Great talking to you today. Sorry I lost signal in the country. Was frustrating as heel on the phone for the last couple days.

I am home, drove through the night and arrived at 7AM, so I am taking a nap. Give me a cal this afternoon after my nap and we can finish.
