Rear end Length and Vette wheels

Instead of just a motor trans dropout. So Figure it may save me some cash in the long run. My question is since I am buying a new rear housing anyway and I am not a big fan of those thick wheel adapters,
Could a get the Vette wheels to work without 5 inch thick adapters by ordering a longer rear?



Or will that be too long or require costly $$ extral long axles?
