      looking for LED lighting ideas

      Hey Everyone,

I figure this is the best place to ask... I'm looking for bright white led lights to illuminate an engine compartment. Here's the catch.... it cannot look ricey! I'm thinking about lights that would sit flush in the inner wheel wells (custom aluminum panels)

      any suggestions?

      Thanks
      Jason

Might be a decent place to get them from. A buddy of mine put some in his truck and they are nice and bright.

Why not remote mount them and use fiber?

I purchased lights for my instrument panel from these guys. I bought the diffused versions but they sent me a bright blue one by accident and I tested it under the hood, it looked pretty trick. They have all types to choose from

I'd look towards an LED light bar of sorts. Motorcycle lighting places my have what you need. Try Boogey Lights and Custom Dynamics maybe they have something.

Yeah, I know, sounds rediculous.... BUT.... you can add lighting without it being an extra in the Fast and the Furious.

my customer is looking for an underhood light to display the engine compartment and was just going to go the standard incandescant route. I suggested using a set of white LEDs to give it more of a modern feel.

Anyway... I think I found what I'm looking for, so I'll give it a shot and see what it looks like. I'll post some pics when its done for you guys to bash :D

Thanks to everyone that posted links!

At SEMA, Grote had these cool flexible LED strips they were rolling out. But I don't really see it on their site yet. I thought it had a lot of cool potential.

Kind of this, but they had single row strips and such.

What I ended up going with was a set of 1 watt leds from varad

This car is a pro touring/prostreet 55 chevy nomad. The hood has a vertical support beam that runs near the front of the hood (about where the radiator sits) I mounted the lights to the inside of the vertical brace so when you open the hood, the light shines at a 45 degree angle into the engine compartment. It came out excellent, but I forgot to take pics. I'll do it the next time he brings the car in.

The bright white glow at night has a similar glow to a flourescent droplight. looks real nice
