      Tie rod length

When I removed the old parts from the car I labeled the left hand tie rod assembly with a bit of tape.

I recieved my new inner tie rod and Baer trackers. Assembled the new stuff last night.

I went to adjust the lengths of the assemblies to match the old stuff and realized that the tape had fallen off. Now I don't know which was left and which was right.

One of them is roughly .5" longer than the other 15" and 15.5" or something like that.

Can someone roll under their car and tell me which side has the longer tie rod assembly?

Anyone have time to throw a tape on their tie-rod assemblies?

Our 73/4 Nova tie-rod assemblies are 15.5" center to center on both sides, but that's with a rough alignment only. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

They should be the same length. If yours are not... one could only speculate as to why?

I do know that I have had to cut some threads off of some tie-rods to get them to be short enough to as not have 2 inches of toe in. But, since it sounds like you are re-using what you had... and just adding the BAER adjusters... I would make them equal length, center the pitman (with a degree wheel and coat hanger) and adjust from there.

My '67 arms are 15.625" and set's it at 0.1875" toe in (total) at designed ride height. Which would put them right at about 15.5" for roughly, zero toe.
