      Alignment specs

It's time to align my car for the first time, and am doing it myself with the SPC tool. I have no clue what it should be set at, and hope someone has some input. It's a 78 TA with Pro touring F-body uppers (solid bushings) with 5 degrees camber built in. Lowers are stock with rubber bushings. all steering components are new. Hotchkis drop springs. Running 17" YO snowflakes with 255/45 (if that matters). I'm assuming a 1/16th toe in would be ok, but have no clue what a good caster/camber combo would be. If anyone can give some input, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks alot.

The Guldstrand Engineering website lists the following specs:

      For a Touring Car:
      1/4' to 1/2' neg. Camber.
      3' to 4' pos. Caster
      0" to 1/8" Toe IN

With a little disclaimer : " These settings represent a place to start. Optimum setting for each track or driving techniques must be determined by testing. "

The settings for a Racing car or Slalom car are different.

It is sometimes good to give about 1/2' more positive Caster on the passengers side.
An example , if you have 3' pos. caster on the drivers side , then put 3 1/2' on the passengers side.
This helps compensate for the crown of the road.

Thanks for the info. At least I have a place to start. This may be harder than I thought though. Good to be learning something new.

That's right about where my 77 Z28 is, except I run a bit more caster.

I hope you mean 5° caster.

Oops. Yep, that's what I meant. Just a typo.
