Relating to cars that is...

I was talking cars with one of my buddies the today and the topic came up as to what crazy ideas were floating through our head and he wanted to swap a new hemi into his srt4... well I liked the idea and took it a little differently...

I wanna get a cobalt coupe and swap in an ls2/ 6 speed combo to make it a rear wheel drive beast putting down 400 hp in a 2500 pound car... I think that thing would be fun to play with and could be quite the sleeper.



What other crazy ideas do some of you have?

d) See how fast it'll go at Bonneville

I'd buy all the dragstrips and put chicanes mid-track so I can finally see an end to these ill-handling, no-front-brake, disconnected swaybar, two-speed automatic shifted, pizza-cutter-tired abominations that are based on cars built by junk collectors after WW2.

On my days off I'll be racing on my new 40-mile Bonneville roadcourse, complete with 15-mile long straight.

Well you did say "crazy". I don't think wanting a GT-40 style transaxle and engine combo in the back of my fastback is crazy enough. That just needs money.

Ok, I have a few:

-A personal race track that has a drag strip, a roadcourse, a drifting course and some R/C car tracks too!

-Dream Car builds:
-a Salt Flats Belly Tanker running a big turbo 4b11T Mitsu 2.0L 4 cylinder
-a Porsche 914 with a 2.5L big turbo WRX STi engine and 6 speed trans with 17x9.5 wheels
-my dad's lost 64 Comet Cyclone tribute car but in a pro-touring style build with 18x9.5 rota wheels in flat black, with a super built 289 with 3 duece's (just like my dad had) and full bolt ons and run it at the Nurburgring racetrack (ok, I'll settle for Miller Motorsports Park, its only 45 minutes away).
-a 32 roadster done up in a full on traditional hot rod style, wire wheels, wide whites, and a V8 flatty with all the mods (including blower) and a T56

-Get high octane fuel to come from water by adding one drop of a miracle chemical and not having any negative ozone effects so we can continue to run these hot rods

OK, the ‘what if you won the lottery’ thread was at nastyZ recently, so twice in one day I get to C&P my answer. This is my $100 million pipedream:

• Certain friends & family members would be very taken care of. I have some special needs nieces & nephews that will get more. But lots of mortgages & college educations would be paid. New houses. Let’s say $20M.

• I’d send my 67 to Frank at Prodigy Customs. $500k

• I’d buy a large parcel of land and have a garage & house built. With a road course. $15M

• I will start a charitable trust. I’m not exactly sure yet what we would do, but I’d put $50M into a trust, employ a few people and make life better for some others. I am leaning towards helping service men & women in some capacity.

• I’ll open a hot rod shop where I would pay a few gifted types to build cars for me. I’d pay them well & offer great benefits and the annual goal to break even. Solid employment as long as they earn it. Take some builds in, do some for ourselves. SEMA every year, Power Tour too, among others. $25M. This covers a lot of territory.

• Next to the hot rod shop a bar & grille so we have a place to drink & eat. $5M

• NastyZ Friday night party at Carlisle would be bigger. Van Halen bigger. With DLR.

• Learn to drive & race on road courses.

After that I’ll wing it.

Yes, I’ve thought this through. I used to have a long commute and I’d get bored. Whenever the lottery was big I’d day dream.

Seriously though, look at where the tires on that thing are placed. Throw in some bigger wider rubber, some suspension, and a lot more HP, and you could have something really fun that would handle like nobody's business. (And since you get the whole car brand new for $2,500-$3,000, you'd have $ left for goodies.)

(Can somebody who's good with photoshop do a PT style chop of the Nano just for kicks?)
