      Newbie Welcomes Advice - Long

OK, I'll take you up on the invitation to introduce myself. Although I'll probably catch some flak.
I'm a retired gearhead that's done light hotrodding, mostly Mopar, since I was a teenager.
I finished up a Factory Five Cobra replica a couple of years ago and am planning and assembling parts for my next build.
After searching lots of forums, the Pro-Touring forum seems to match up with the technical side of my planned build better than the Cobra forums.
I'm trying to finish up a carbed 351W for the car.
I plan to use an all electronically shifted 4R70W with either paddle shifters or microswitches integrated into the wheel and pushbutton Drive-Neutral-Reverse-Park controls on the console. May throw in a fake shifter just to throw folks off and put the transmission buttons in a slide top box that looks like an ash tray inset into the console.
Picked up a paddle shifter off of eBay but want to try out microswitches too.
Leaning toward Compushift for a trans controller but they're pretty pricey.
Picked up a 4R70W from the boneyard to use during the build and have built or use as a core for the final car.
Right now I have a lot more questions than answers (hard to get an old man to admit to that). Sometimes I get the feel nobody has done (or will admit to have done) what I'm planning.
I think that I'll get the best ideas out of the hot rod or retro-rod area and that's my long winded introduction as to why I'm here.
I'd appreciate any input and I'll let you know how my project is going so anyone with similar ideas can benefit from my experiences.
      Thanks

Welcome! Retired geahead? I don't think so, sounds like you're still at it! You'll find an icon (link) on the right side of this page for a company called Twist Machine owned by a member here. He may be able to answer some of your questions. I'd post your questions in the tranny section.

      Thanks, John.
The posts by streetfytr68 (Twist Machine) are one of the main reasons I joined this forum.
I'll post my questions in the tranny section to get some good input from him and others on the forum.
