      Won't start!

Driving home yesterday, made a left turn, and my 88 Firebird with the 2.8 died. I tried to install a new ignition module. The two wires internally to the module were no longer in the plastic plug from a previous owner. I don't remember which wire is which. Is the green to the left, or the yellow (from the passenger side, looking down). I tried both ways and I either messed-up the new module, or that wasn't the cause. I have fuel pressure, cranks fine, even almost started a couple of times. It had been idling a little rough after I installed the Pacesetter headers; I thought that may be from having to lengthen the 02 sensor wire. It smells rich in the exhaust after trying to start yesterday.
      Thanks

are you talking about the 2 wires that go to the pickup? they can be switch but some cheap modules dont like switching. Try a new distributor or pull old one and install new pick up coil.
Most parts stores have module tester just make sure thay have it sitting on counter with metal heatsink side down or only test once or iut may get too hot.
Reman dist is quicker and gives you warranty.
      Good luck.

Got the module straight... I found a neighbor in town to show me the wires under his dist cap. I had both modules tested- both are good. I came home and tried to start the car, the fuel pump sounded terrible. I used starting fluid, and the car ran for a minute, then the fuel pump finally died. Now I am in the middle of pulling the fuel tank- what a mess compared to the Belair!!!!
