A&M Deluxe Customs: Oregon custom car builders
So, I had a business trip that took me to a rural town about 45 minutes out of Portland this last week. When our work was done, somehow it came out that I am a huge hot rod nut. The supplier I was auditing mentioned that there was a shop a few doors down. He said we could see if they'll show you around. So, we went over there and I met Mark and Aaron, the owners. The first car I saw was a '57 Nomad that was low and had some pro-tour type wheels. After Mark started telling us about this car, it became apparent that this was no ordinary resto, but a full on Pro-tour build. I told him I hung out at pro-touring.com and he didn't seem to recognize it. He was very familiar with the build type though. Anyway, this car has an '06 7.0L Z06 motor and IRS out back with 295/45/20. It has a chopped top, custom front end tweaks and hood, the list goes on and on. I thought we'd get the usual 10 minute "tour", but an hour later, I was amazed. These guys are in the top 20 builders in the country (my opinion of course, although I noticed that they were named "Builder of the Year at a Portland Car show this year). They are metal artists. Anyway, we got an indepth description of each project. I was in heaven! Then, to top it off, he offered to take me for a ride in his newly finished, still in bare metal, '46 Ford pickup, built old school style. This car had a quick change rear, Richmond 5 speed, 283ci with about 275hp and he wowed me with his expert Powershifts. :0
I searched around and didn't see any mention of their cars on this forum, so I'm posting their web address so you can check out there site. It has a cool 360 degree tour of the shop and a few hundred pics of their projects. I hope his Nomad gets some recognition on this site, it deserves it. Mark and Aaron are two of the nicest hotrodders you'll ever meet. If you live in Oregon, you need to get out and see these guys. They have an open house every year, I think in the spring. Here's the site, you'll love it:
